Jack Sharkey of the Dempsey Fight, lost but put up a great game, Facing the Boilermaker. Jeffries, the champ here but 1920 s ruleset. 15 rounds?.
I think Sharkey would do very well early on and would clearly outbox Jeffries. However, remembering how Sharkey came apart with those borderline body shots from Jack, it's quite possible Jeffries might land some rib benders later in the fight and Sharkey's appetite for the fray could begin to evaporate. Sharkey isn't koing Jeffries imo, he would have to win by a dec or a tko on cuts . If Jeffries doesn't stop the Sailor he probably loses a points decision. I'd like to read some more opinions on this intruiging match up.
I would actually go with Sharkey here. I was always impressed with that pole-like ram-rod jab of his and I liked his defensive bob and weave, both which I feel would benefit him greatly with the Jeffries style. Jack on a 15 round decision.
Thought about it and I'm thinking that Jeffries, unable to ko Jack. And loses a decision., Sharkey would have the faster hands and movement. Jeffries strong arm tactics don't get him the win here imo.
