1-The round was close. Sharkey boxed well for a change. Even.
2-Sharkey dropped Scott w/ two sloppy left hooks. Sharkey.
3-This round was incredibly hectic and extremely peculiar. Actually, it was pretty humorous to watch as it progressed. The first knockdown in this round came when Sharkey charged in, and landed at least two blows. However, cuz of the way the fighters were positioned vs. where the camera was, it's difficult to say what happened here. But Scott went down. The strange thing was that the lowest blow that it appeared Sharkey threw/ could have thrown couldn't have been illegal, yet Scott was holding the side of his right leg, as if he had been fouled or something. Just a few seconds after Scott gets up, Sharkey lands a kind of sloppy left hook and Scott goes down again, once again holding his leg. He flips over on his back trying to get up. Then Scott's corner comes in. It appears Scott can't stand up on his right leg, and is led back to his corner by his handlers. Scott is told to continue, and both he and Sharkey are set in the corners.
4-Once again, Sharkey leaps in with a left hook or two, which I can't pinpoint where they land. Scott staggers helplessly into a neutral corner, holding his leg, which is bent. Scott grabs the referee for support, and then Sharkey walks over, apparently mad, yelling at Scott. Scott's seconds bring his stool back to the corner where Scott still is, and Scott nearly falls through it. Then Scott walks along the top rope to his own corner. Scott tries to leave the ring by himself, but cannot, so two guards begin to take him out. I swear, the whole incident is one of the weirdest things I've ever seen.

Verdict: I can't praise or criticize Sharkey since I watched his knockdowns of Scott over and over again, and none of them are clear to me at all what happened, even in slow mo, which I watched several times. The incident with Scott's leg was weird enough though. Give it a view.

What a fun fight to watch.

Scott was known as "Fainting Phil" for his grotesque foul acts and he sure lived up to nickname in this one. In 83 fights, Scott managed 7 victories on fouls.

Was he actually fouled? I don't know as during the key exchanges Fainting Phil always seemed to have his back to the camera, obscuring the view. I didn't see any Sharkey punch which looked low. Whatever, Fainting Phil certainly went into his act. Poor guy. He was so disabled by "vicious" Sharkey punches that he couldn't even leave the ring without aid. They lifted him over the ropes like a corpse.

As for Sharkey, well no one looks good against this sort of opponent.

In fairness to Fainting Phil, he impressed me as talented. Not as a boxer, but as a peer of Olivier and Gielgud.

Faintin Phil made a huge contribution to the reputation of the horizontal British heavyweight!
