A fantastic Middleweight that was not only a notably top contender but also a World Champion in the division, the "Hoosier Bearcat" also achieved extraordinary success as a Light-Heavyweight. For some, Jack Dillon was a "smaller" version of Jack Dempsey. It is what it is. Jack Dillon was truly special and beyond any need of comparison with whoever, in my opinion. With an impressive career of over 250 fights from his debut in 1908 till his retirement in 1923, Jack Dillon fought almost 40 fights (38) against Champions, winning 24 of those in almost 400 rounds overall, which makes Dillon an All-Time top 10 in all these 3 stats. Amongst the great fighters the "Giant Killer" faced in the ring, one can mention Harry Greb (twice), Mike Gibbons, Billy Miske (5 times), Battling Levinsky (10 times) or George Chip (12 times), etc, etc, etc. Where do you place Jack Dillon in your All-Time p4p ranking? Peace
Do you mean Ernest Cutler Price? If so then no he got knocked around most of the time. If were talking about the same guy?
Yes, Ernest Cutler Price, "Jack the Giant Killer", the "Hoosier Bearcat" Jack Dillon, born in February the 2nd of 1891 in Frankfort, Indiana, U.S.A. We are clearly speaking about the same gentlemen.
Top 100 seems fair. Good wins over Levinsky and Miske, also impressively beat Frank Moran who outweighed him by 35 pounds. However, not enough for top 50 IMO. Still an impressive fighter tho
I'm still working on my top 50. He's on a shortlist of contenders for 41-50. My gut feel is he will just miss out, but as I've not finished I haven't voted.
