Jack Thompson 6 foot tall ,over 200lbs. Thompson was a good puncher who mixed it with: Jack Johnson Sam Langford Sam McVey Harry Wills George Godfrey Tom Colwer Battling Jim Johnson John Lester Johnson Big Bill Tate Jamaica Kid Jeff Clark Fred Fulton He always gave a decent account of himself, among his scalps are Langford Clarkx5 Jeannette Tate Godfrey J L Johnson BJ Johnson Soldier Kearns He seems to have fought predominantly black fighters ,a tough opponent who is now largely forgotten.
He ought to have been given the decision on a foul in his November 1921 bout vs Harry Wills, at Denver, but the referee was afraid how spectators would react to such result and refused to give a decision. Thompson was slow and lacked skill, but could stand enormous amount of punishment at times (when he wasn't scared to death like vs Sam Langford in 1915).
