Nice find H. E.:good DESPITE THE CHIEF HATER TRYING TO STATE OTHERWISE ,IT WAS A 10 ROUNDER http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cg...e=-------10--1----0JACK+jOHNSON+V+jIM+jOHNSON-- http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cg...e=-------10--1----0JACK+jOHNSON+V+jIM+jOHNSON--
The opening round wasn’t notable, but in round two the champion landed “a couple of smashing body blows with his left hand.” No real harm was done, however. The majority of his follow-up attempts to the midsection in this and later rounds were blocked by “Battling” Jim, who, it was said, fought out of a deeper crouch than that of James J. Jeffries. This allowed Jim to land his own rattling blows to the stomach of his adversary. He forced the action, largely making the fight, although Jack certainly got in more than his share of left jabs to the head. He doubled up on it, getting in a multitude of right uppercuts, as well and moved well on his feet. Le Figaro claimed that Jack broke the radius of his left arm in round 5, when Jim crashed home a powerful right hand to his elbow. From the 6th to the end of the match, the latter was on the defensive. In the 7th stanza, Jim broke through the guard of the champion on three occasions, raking his foe with sharp uppercuts. Le Figaro wrote “…by the 7th round, Johnson’s broken face read defeat …” If not for the great defense of “Li’l Artha,” his young challenger might have knocked him out. It was only Jack’s superior boxing ability and supreme skill that enabled him to see the finish. At the final bell ending the 10th round, Jack staggered to the ropes, clutching his left arm and saying he’d broken it. When the angry and disbelieving crowd demanded to know just when this alleged injury occurred, they received the reply that it was in the 3rd frame. The referee declared the fight a draw, allowing the champion to retain his title. The New York Times said, “It was the general impression among the spectators that the injury had been sustained in the last minute of the fight, when Jim Johnson rushed Jack to the ropes and the two went to the floor, with Jack’s arms closed about Jim’s waist. Both men jumped up quickly, but Jack was plainly exhausted and he fell against the ropes as the gong sounded. Then, he tottered to his corner, holding his left arm and declaring it was broken.” The paper added that the opponent of the fistic monarch had “battered him all around the ring” and would have taken him out if the bout had proceeded much longer >>>Sounds like Battling Jim Johnson was robbed! That's right, a man with a journeyman fighter got the better of Johnson as champion.
You are ****ing unbelievable. Here we see CBZ refuting it's own information, that this was a 20 round fight, a source that you've been dishonestly clinging to in favour of primary sources on the forum for years: The French newspaper, Le Figaro, wrote on the day of the fight, December 19, 1913, but prior to the actual event, that the match was to be “un combat un dix reprises de trois minutes” (a battle of 10 rounds, of 3 minutes each). This is at odds with the popular notion that the bout was originally slated for 20 frames, but was halted after only 10, due to the injury sustained by Jack. And all we get from you is more hate. Not an admission that you were mistaken, which would be a lie, but a step in the right direction of acknowledging your general dishonesty. Your hatred of Jack Johnson is incredible. That you will lie on the forum to further that hate makes you the worst kind of poster. That when even your OWN SOURCE SIGHT on one of your often repeated lies exposes you as such, you start roaring about Jim Johnson being robbed: that's all you have to say. It's beyond pathetic. I have to say i find it disturbing that the fighters you hate enough to lie about are both black (Johnson, Louis) and the fighters you spend your entire time on the forum building up are white (Jeffries, Wlad, Vitali). If this is way of the mark you only have yourself to blame. People around you are always going to try to explain the incredible, unequalled levels of bias and hate you express on the forum.
Jack Johnson smashed Mendoza's grandmother and he has a mixed race Uncle Jack Jr who bullies him, true story
Good posts both of ye but this Jim Johnson thing has been done here long ago and many times. McVey, keep up the on line book finds-great. Carp's is out there too, dont have the link just now but you'll find it.
This fight was actually a 20 rounder and was cut short to save Jack Johnson's championship when he broke his arm against the journeyman Jim Johnson. Battling Jim had been giving Jack a beating throughout the fight. just kidding !
I don't spend my day with Internet friends who I have never meet, and do not care what you think. If you think everyone likes you here, your delusional. Keep playing the race card, its all you have. No need to reply back, though we both know since you have no life you will.
What you should do, is spend your day learning how to read and write. Three mistakes in four sentences. Rainman, you are destroyed on this Forum.
