JDJ allegedly reached out to Ward's Team during negotiations for the rematch and expressed an interest in working with them. Prince and Ward's legal advisor said that JDJ even named his price.

I made this thread last night, but not sure where it went. Did it get out of hand whilst I was sleeping?

Anyway, the article is on The Seam.

As a fan of both Ward and Kova, both guys have turned me off in the build up to this fight and the fall out from the 1st.

Yeah, this is insane... Kovalev needs to sit JDJ's ass down and demand some answers. Actually, Kovalev needs to drop him ASAP and bring on Robert Garcia or Freddie Roach. Actually, Freddie's working w/ Manny right now and Robert is working with Mikey, but Kovalev trains in Oxnard, sooo...

I get that sometimes things doesn't work out anymore in a team, but if JDJ is not happy in that team anymore he doesn't have to stay. But jumping ship to the ''enemy'' ? That's a snake move man. If there's any truth there, I fully expect Kovalev to show him the door after the fight.

I didn't even realised the rematch is 3 weeks away... wow !

Definitely a snake move (if true, which I think it is). Ariza was twice a snake... He went to Rios after Team Pac kicked his ass out and then he went to and left Maidana to work with IVayweather.

I'll wait for some proof before condemning JDJ. I get there are issues in the camp and all that but you resolve that like men by either working it out or by leaving the fighter. I really hope this isn't true, that would be treacherous...yet this is the Ward camp and they've been playing mind games so who the fk knows what's true.

It doesn't even make sense. Of course some Ward fans will chew it up but anybody with half a brain would have to reject this as pure tabloid. If this were true it paints JDJ as a very weak man. It says JDJ wants to be on the Ward side because he hates how Kovalev treats him but if he can't be in Ward's corner (as an assistant) he'll take his pay check with Kovalev because his dignity is worthless. That's what Rick Reeno and J Prince want the boxing fans to believe about JDJ. I agree this fight must not be selling well.

There are right ways to promote a fight. They've ruin that. Could it be that they're acknowledging how terrible they are at promoting this fight and this is their cheap answer at promoting? A bunch of rats!

I don't blame JDJ for this, since after the first fight Kovalev said he wasn't happy with JDJ and even went so far to say he was going back to his old coach and going back to basics. JDJ doesn't owe Kovalev any loyalty, since Kovalev threw all the blame for the loss on him and hinted that JDJ made him a less capable fighter. Kovalev is an ingrate, since JDJ made a lot of improvements for Kovalev and helped make him unified champ.

That said though I doubt Virgil or Ward need any input from JDJ.

Kovalev has no faith in JDJ and had no faith before the first Ward fight happened. That's what Pascal mentioned in the press conference and he was right. After the first Ward fight Kovalev wanted to fire Jackson and replace him with a Russian coach, but Duva didn't allow that to happen. Sadly, because that would have been good for both men.

There was an interview with Kovalev in Russian where he criticized the American coaches and said that he wanted to go back to his former Russian coach who trained him when he was an amateur.

It started after that " crying loser" press tour that Kovalev went on after the 1st fight. He shitted on Jackson bad and the only reason he stayed is because Duva wanted everything to look normal and paid him more to stay.
Kovalev says that Russian trainers are better and he has some in this camp so he better not blame Jackson if he loses this one.
I don't blame JDJ at all, especially if Sergey made it nationalistic and sprinkles bigotry on top of it. The money must be nice for Jackson to stay.

No, it started before the Chilemba fight happened. Kovalev wasn't happy with the 5 week long strength training before that fight.
