I'm currently in training at camp Geiger to be a usmc machine gunner. In about two weeks I go to the fleet marine force. Chances are I'll go to camp lejeune in Jacksonville NC. Anyone know any good gyms around there? I'm pretty sure there is on on base, but I'd like to get to spar the civilians too, cuz marines aren't known as being the best boxers.
There arnt any. I was born and lived in Jacksonville till I was 15. There just isnt any interest in boxing around there. My family and I were the only ones who liked and knew boxing. Like you said, there is one for the marines boxing team I'm sure (not positive, we were Navy) but otherwise yea, the town, in my opinion is kind of boring. Lots of strip clubs though... then there's the occasional stabbing or murder... Its a great place to start a family and grow up in!
Haha awesome... I'm only 17 so I can't go to the strip clubs yet, but in a month I turn 18 and a bunch of marines wanna take me already haha
Yeah, having moved down here from up north, there isn't much of a fan base for Boxing down here in Jacksonville. I have to make a phone call to have any kind of real conversation about boxing. To say there aren't any Marines that are good boxers... wow... I'd have to disagree with that. Best of luck to you brother. Semper Fidelis.
That came out wrong... I meant aren't known as boxers. Marines are a lot more into mma now. I realized how what I said sounded like that, my bad.
Hey man! Check out Wilmington,NC. I lived in Hubert for 18 years before I left for the army. Wilmington which is about 50 miles from jacksonville, has 2 or 3 boxing gyms down there. If you're interested, i'm sure a hour drive wouldn't be that bad.
