August 1st, cruiserweight. Jake is the somewhat more serious of the Paul brothers, in boxing (although Logan, his elder sibling, is the biggest earner so far with that exhibition versus Mayweather). He is 3-0 in the pros thus far and has defeated one fellow YouTuber, one retired NBA player, and one a retired MMA crossover. Woodley is a UFC veteran, like Askren, but still active (though he is two years older than Askren). He is also making his pro boxing debut - and though he comes from a wrestling and not striking background, his standup game is passing fair by MMA standards. Look guys, I don't like this stuff any more than you do but this kind of thing seems to be a trend here to stay and the way PPV money is going to move for the foreseeable little while. May as well get used to it.
I’m a big MMA fan and Tyron is a powerful striker, but he’s also way pst his best. He got the **** beaten out of him the last 4 fights, utterly dominated. That had to have taken a lot out of him plus he is the smaller guy and also not a boxer. I think Jake will win but it will be decently competitive.
Getting tired of them going to the MMA well for credible seeming non-boxers. Why not go grab the 2012 Idaho Golden Gloves champ or something. Alas! It's $5 word night at the Castle of Butt.
I picked Askren to get knocked out by Jake Paul. I looked at the data on Askren and i assumed he'd get stopped but didn't know how soon or late on in the fight. Askren wasn't a striker (he was a poor one) and was coming out of retirement from shoulder surgery whilst doing many social media talk show appearances seemingly not taking it all too seriously. Woodley seems to be taking this seriously and is more of a striker albeit a wrestler at the core. Woodley in MMA seemed to have knockout power in his right hand. We don't know yet how his power will translate into the squared circle. We could assume he'll hit harder than Ben Askren, though. Woodley in the UFC has always shown he has a relatively good chin and can take a shot. Jake Paul on the other hand hasn't had to show how good his chin is and how to take a punch from a decent opponent from a combat sport (askren didn't land much in round 1) Jake Paul's chin has question marks over it and we haven't been privy to what's been going on in sparring. I think Jake will have egg on his face in this one and i'm going with Woodley by mid round stoppage. I could be completely wrong but i think the jury is still out on Jake Paul's chin.
I seen Woodley working out and a lot of MMA fans saying oh he is gonna smoke JP but I feel they don't know what they are looking at. From what I saw of Woodley on the pads he looks stiff slow not fluid at all I think JP is going to beat him up and stop him I really hope that I am wrong though.
