**** the 10 pound limit. In my book once you weigh in and make weight the fight is on. There should never be the same day weigh in, in boxing again.

 

Weight only bothers guys like Gamache and Lomachenko. It never bothered guys like Floyd, Pac and even Bellew.

It's interesting that they're the only major organization that implements a 2nd day weigh-in.

Anyway who cares about alphabet titles; a win for Jacobs would thrust him into the top 10 P4P. Wins over Quillin and Gennady at MW would be one hell of an accomplishment.

 

Im sure that was their plan from the beginning. Would take the win over losing the chance to fight for the belt. Have a feeling its not guna make any difference to the outcome.

 

He will still be the man if he wins anyway and almost render the IBF meaningless

 

ya but jacobs is a snake and a cheater, he could have told ggg months ago that he couldnt make same day weight and that the ibf belt shouldnt be on the line and ggg wouldn't have to make same day weight, instead he waits until now to gain an unfair advantage

Not for any legalities IRT titles being on the line, that part is BS, I agree, F a 10lb rehydration limit unless it's negotiated by the fighters managers, etc.......

I just completely disagree with your opinion of the SAME DAY weigh in.
I personally believe that EVERY TELEVISED FIGHTER should be weighed just prior to his wraps being applied and that weight made public EVERY SINGLE TIME.

As a fan, it's unfair to know who holds what advantage, and from a fighters perspective, especially for future opponents looking to make fights with those fighters.

Why should someone like Monroe not know how much Lemiuex is gonna actually weigh when they enter the ring.
Knowing how much Lemiuex weighed for his Stevens fight, say 180, might give his mgmt an edge in negotiating pre-fight.

He could say that he enters the ring at 167, and will have a functional 13lb weight disadvantage and therefore demands a 5% increase in his purse split, or demand a 15lb rehyrdration clause.

Same for for Floyd......of course if Floyd demanded that Canelo could only rehydrate to 170 for a 155lb Lineal MW title fight, Canelo would be forced to come into the ring like a zombie, and Floyd would box his ears of weighing only 165 himself.

If Floyd agreed to fight the GGG v Jacobs winner, at 155 and demanded the same, Jacobs would be F'd should he pull it off and miss out on a 15 million payday because he can't possibly weigh less than 185 tonight. He's an absolute beast compared to Floyd. Whereas GGG, would have no trouble making the weight, getting the payday, and sending Floyd into the 3rd row, and out of the stadium in a coffin.

 

Wont even matter. Its not the first time GGG will be out-weighted fight night, and it wont be the last. Many people said that in order to have a chance against GGG you must have a big physical advantage over him.
I expect Canelo to do the same thing if they ever meet.

Beating GGG without needing to give his entire purse to the 3 officials and the ref, would clearly send him skyrocketing up there.
