Jacobs skips IBF same day weigh-in. IBF belt not on the line.

i just knew he was going to pull something, he never would of taken this fight if he didn't think he could gain an unfair advantage in some way, i hope golovkin retires him...

I am not banned anymore but am salty asf about that ban and some of these mods are Mofo's for sure and I am sick of this forum with all the communal tugging, all of you think you are geniuses because your tugger internet friends agree with everything you say. Jacobs is a cheat and obviously will gain an advantage from this but it won't be a weight advantage he will just have had more time to recover from becoming a skeleton yesterday. They will both be around 175-180lbs, ffs GGG weighs 165 30 days out and 170 in the morning of the fight and he didn't cut for the 30day weigh in. If you think he didn't cut for that 30 day weigh in you need your head read.

GGG is a monster 160lber but so is Jacobs, they would both go to 168 and be bigger than 95% of the comp bar the monster guys like Groves, Gilberto and Callum Smith.

Lemieux and Jacobs missing the 2nd day in's were completely different situations imo. Lemieux is a small dumb guy that didn't know there was a 2nd day weigh in, Jacobs is a cheat and wanted an advantage any way he could. Lemieux looked like a welterweight against GGG and his game plan was probably the worst tactical mistake I have seen in a long while. A huge punching aggressive fighter thinking he could win doing his best Erislandy Lara impersonation is laughable.

I know I say it all the time but WHY come Jacobs has a history of weighing 170lbs fight night but can't make 170lbs morning weigh in? The answer is the fight night weights are BS and he never weighed 170 fight night THE END.

 

It's annoying when guys pull this at the 11th hour (Lemieux, too), but I honestly can't say I'm surprised. I don't care about Jacobs coming in 15 pounds higher instead of 10, but it's a bogus move to wait until now to mention it. They had plenty of time to ask for the IBF to not be on the line. They waited this long to make sure GGG only put on the 10 lbs.

Nobody will be able to accuse GGG of fighting a drained Jacobs, at least.

 

Fight night weights are indeed often quite untrustworthy, but even so, Golovkin was never above 175 lb in any previous fight. If he regularly went to 175 lb to 180 lb, surely at least once this would have been reported correctly?

In this case the weigh-in is further out for the main fight, so more time to rehydrate and Golovkin probably will come in heavier. But, granting 175lb to 180lb being an estimate as you say, that is not a huge MW compared to the competition. Most SMWs are as big or bigger than that in the ring.

And yes, he cut for the 30-day weigh-ins etc. but logic suggests that it was nothing extreme, there's little or no point in draining yourself more than necessary.

 

Still hope it's a good fight to watch, extra doesn't always give you an advantage like some people feel. You may have a slight strength advantage but you are slower and more likely to gas out so for Jacobs it may be a disadvantage for him.

 

What a joke. These guys are supposed to be professionals. He should forfeit some of his pay like Floyd did for JMM. If I was Jacobs, I would sure bust my ass to be ready for this big opportunity (never mind the ridiculous pay he's getting).

Well I don't think anyone ever really has a clue when predicting fights I mean only a few week ago I never seen one post or article about Bellew beating Haye and yet it happened.

Ok I better back up what I mean,it doesn't matter how one butters it up,Danny Jacobs has shown that his chin ain't exactly solid,I reckon the heavy shot that Brook survived in round one of their fight would of certainly have knocked Jacobs down if not out,you could see Brooks legs go and he did amazing to survive that,hope I'm wrong and Jacobs gives Gennady a real test but in my honest opinion he's not on the same level but is blessed with power.

 

Lol I know,they either being cute with us about his thirty day weigh in or more likely from his walk around weight in the 170s he already gets rid of 5lb before the thirty day weigh in.
Re weights I seen an article on news 24 that says they should of got a hydration clause for Jacobs and Abel Sanchez said its a mistake Jacobs coming in big,I don't really get that as he's not coming in big more its his size I reckon.

 

Well, if Jacobs can somehow pull off the win, this leaves the IBF title vacant so Charlo can move up and fight for it.

 

Supermiddleweights don't have to weigh 160lbs 36hours before a fight, GGG would be even bigger if he could stay at 168
