Why would he get a 'short pause' to compose himself? Jacobs was totally within his rights to keep unloading after the temple shot but knew he didn't need to.

Are you blind, the ref didn't stop Jacobs attack, Jacobs stopped Jacobs attack.

You aren't watching closely enough. Dock did not seperate them, Jacobs turned round to walk off before Dock did anything

You have to define your terms.

    Calzaghe-Manfredo = bad stoppage.

    Jacobs-Quillin = good stoppage.

Can anyone compare the two fights and believe the stoppages were the same? Manfredo was unhurt, against the ropes blocking slaps that would not have broken a water balloon. Manfredo argued immediately that he was ok.

Quillin had been hit hard enough to do a chicken dance. He had deer in the headlights face. He didn't argue, in fact COULD NOT SPEAK to the ref. He slurred his words 10 minutes later and talked about retiring ("have to talk to my team and My family").

It was a good stoppage ...nothing to see here, move along.

    From the replay...

Quillin was out on his feet.

IMO the referee made the right call !

The ref even took a second look at Quillin before stopping the fight.

    Sound decision.

You said Dock seperated them? He did no such thing. Jacobs turned around and walked off after landing the temple shot. He could have kept punching but knew there was no need as Peter was completely out on his feet.

Gotta give Jacobs huge credit for stopping himself when he did, most would have carried on throwing. After the last shot Quillin was a sitting duck, any further punches would have put him at serious, serious risk. After all he's been through its no surprise Jacobs is a guy with great respect for human life/health

There's is a certain type that doesn't care for the fighter's safety. They'd just assume a defenseless fighter is knocked out cold for the sheer finality of it. If that involves a guy getting killed once in a while, so be it.

Good stoppage. No need to take a chance with a young father and husbands life in a sport that has taken so many athletes lives over the years. No one can say Pete was aware enough to defend himself. When you can't defend yourself it's reason to stop the fight.
