Well, this wasn't a good fight anyway so I'm not upset. Hopefully something good comes of this.

 

Would have been one sided anyways..... O'Sullivan should target a winnable fight like Stevens(that would be awesome) Jacobs can either way until a good fights comes is way or stay busy against whomever. Saunders, Golovkin/Alvarez II winner, Charlo, Derevyachenko would all be good.

 

Vs. Jacobs? That's a massacre. Although a fight with O'Sullivan would be good and one that might favor him slightly proved he isn't completely ruined after Derevyanchenko.

 

I have always liked the Spike fight better than Andy Lee.
Prime Andy Lee is a better win then Spike but Lee has retired a few times now and is mixing it with training/managing fighters so he's a part timer now any way. Lee has had 1 fight (where he looked very poor) in over 2 years, Spike is coming off a terrific 2017 and has just had the biggest win of his career.

Spike is on the up and up, Lee seems like a cherry pick right now (I'd love it to be a cherry pick gone wrong tbh).


I like Jacobs tbh but I hope he delivers a decent name next because there probably should be some bad reactions from fans if he doesn't. Hearn was supposed to keep him active but if he fights in April then that's basically 6 months between fights, the longer breaks you would expect bigger names.

 

Hope Andy Lee gets it now and put Spike in with Lemuix .

 

Charlo. It's a good fight for both Eddie and for Jacobs. However it's a huge risk because no-one really knows how good Charlo is yet. It's good for Eddie because the fight has some profile in the US and it will help him to bring people through the door and into the stands, way better attendance than Arias at least. For jacobs, we all know he wants to rematch with GGG. Charlo is a hard hitter so it's a good warmup for GGG, even if he won't fight GGG after this fight.

Eddie is in a tough situation. He doesn't want to take risks this early on with Matchroom USA, but at the same time, Jacobs is an elite middleweight and needs to be in big fights. He is relying on Jacobs and Miller to build Matchroom USA.

I think that Hearn is trying to find a highlight reel KO win for Jacobs.

 

Although I’ve disparaged Jacobs in the past for constantly playing the cancer survivor angle, I hope he’s not dealing with a health crisis.
