Yes this is the reason, it will be a statement for them both. Canelo has the investment yes, he is also young enough and his fanbase big enough that a loss won't hurt his stock significantly. There's no certainty he will lose of course, I think he has a good chance at winning, I just don't believe he'll get the same favours vs Jacobs that he has had previously.
https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/miguel-cotto-vs-saúl-Álvarez-rbr.552774/page-92 4 people on this page alone gave Cotto the decision, maybe I was right, poor memory.
The vast majority seemed to have it for Canelo. Media scores were overwhelming in favor of Canelo. Cotto has some fans maybe you get a few Cotto fans here and there but Canelo seemed to clearly outbox him. I mean Cotto was past his best and just didn't do enough. Who do you think won that Canelo or Cotto ?
Change the below names, Golovkin for Canelo and Canelo for Cotto only it ends with a loss and maybe you can begin to see why there's controversy. I had it Canelo 7-5.
Regardless of how you scored that fight, Canelo did improve upon things that prevented him from winning the first one.
Thank you for the annotation. Based upon the fact that Canelo could hypothetically have 5 losses on his resume instead of one, an opponent getting a serious shake is a very serious topic. Especially considering one of the most dubious scorecards ever vs. Floyd (of all fighters on earth to have a dubious card against).
Thank you; I've just finished 'War and Peace'.....and to commit above Beano level reading for a while was daunting. Not sure the...'the world is watching and judging the judges'...argument stands up all that strongly though tbh. People don't so much forget as throw their hands up in despair when another rip-off happens...to little effect. Anyway cheers for the effort there and will read when brain more attuned. Tomorrow off , so cans tonight for me.
I can see Jacobs doing not quite enough to get the nod, just like in the Golovkin fight. If he actually had enough of an offense mounted with clean scoring punches to get robbed, I'd be really surprised.
Exactly, I don't see were all the Jacbos hype comes from, p4p Trout Lara cotto and ggg are better than Jacobs, he's good but not good enough to Clearly beat Canelo
The issue that Trout has with his fight was the fact that it was open scoring.. going into the 7th round one judge gave Canelo a clean sweep forcing Trout to fight a completely different way which led him to getting dropped.. No way you can look at that fight and give Canelo the first 6 rounds
LOL you are either a know nothing troll just stirring up trouble or you are thick as two short planks. The corruption is blatant, they dont even TRY to hide it. The State commissions rule the sport in the US & they themselves are where the corruption stems from The great Mexican boxing fans DETEST Canelo err sorry Moonelo as they call him now. When they disown a fighter it means he's done for & he is not regarded as a Mexican
