These southpaw flyweight twins (biological, not identical - as Jake is 2" shorter) are each looking to become the next "skinny kid from the Philippines" to hit it big. Much like Pac-Man himself, they have relocated from humble origins in a rural, 2nd-income-class riverside community to bustling General Santos City as their home base. Jake had a fourteen-month head start turning pro. At just 6-0 (3) he challenged for the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental flyweight title. He was dropped and lost a UD, but has since rebounded to dispatch a couple of journeymen several weeks apart. Jade took his time joining his brother in the pros because what's the rush? He was having a grand old time in the amateurs, experiencing lots of tourney success. He took a bronze medal at the AIBA Youth World Championships in Armenia in 2012 and gold at the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships in Zambales City in March of 2013. In the latter, the opponent he vanquished in the finals was none other than Japanese wunderkind Kosei Tanaka! Rare enough were amateur losses for Tanaka (now 4-0 with 2 knockouts in the pros, already the Oriental & Pacific 105lb champion) period, but hardly ever did he lose by more than a single point or count-back. Jade Bornea defeated him 15-13. Earlier in that same tourney, Jade knocked out Murodjon Akhmadaliev of Uzbekistan, the very same man that eliminated him in the semifinals in Armenia the year before - avenging the loss that left him settling for bronze en route to an upgrade to gold. Jade is now 2-0 (2) since debuting in October, sharing the bill with Jake in both of the latter's comeback outings. You should do a thread on the three Eto Brothers-Koki Taiki and Shingo Asian Boxing has a lot of their matches and I've wanted to do a thread on them for awhile but I haven't got around to it.
