Even if Codrington wins The Contender, he's gonna get straight-up mugged the first time he faces a legit top-10 SMW. If Green can do it, any good SMW can.
Kabary Salem also gave Calzaghe fits. I'm more inclined to think that Calzaghe just fights down to the level of his opposition, to a certain point. Bika has a good chin and is awkward, but throws looping punches and doesn't have great movement. Offensively, Codrington has just about everything Bute brought to the table. If Codrington follows Bute's gameplan, he should be able to win. I do have Bika in my top 10, but it's partially out of default. As I've said before, there are about 10 guys bunched up together after the top 7 or so, and Bika just happens to be at the top of that heap due to his resume. I can also see him losing to most of the other guys in that heap on any given night, one of the others in that heap being Codrington.
I'm not a huge fan of Codrington ... more so now that he got away from the "chin checkers" management team. He had absolutely no business being in the Ring with Green in his 9th or 10th fight. Dumb call on his management team. He was cocky and it cost him the fight. Not everyone who gets one punch ko'd has a glass jaw. We will see what the future brings for him. Personally I think he takes Green in a rematch. He is still pretty raw but has good talent and skill. Be interesting to see if McGirt sticks with him after the fight. It is best for the Contender team if Codrington wins because then they have a true prospect. A couple of facts after reading this thread -Manfredo didn't win The Contender -Alfonso Gomez is the best to come out of the series so far -Season 2 never happened ... it never happed I tell you -Finale is 10 rounds with an all contender undercard including a rematch between Paul Smith and David Banks
From the beginning I saw codrington as the only real threat to Sam, but Sam's performance against Bika was **** poor. Bika did not WIN that fight; Sam LOST IT, if you get my meaning. I see Jaidon beating Bika by a pretty convincing ud. BUT Jaidon IS NOT the future of the SMW division! If you want to talk about the future at 168, think about this: If Green, a 3rd tier guy on his best day, knocked Jaidon out, what the **** you think is gonna happen when a 168 pound version of Kelly Pavlik jumps on his ass? Jaidon seems like a real good kid, but he will never be top 5, or win a major title. Boo
:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl that was funny. BUt I picked jaidon to win from when it 1st started, so I wont change now. Jaidon will win
I think Green is underrated, especially based on his performance against Miranda. I think Green is one of those guys that could beat anybody at 168 at a given night, but he would only lose to the top guys.
