Last year Adrien Curiel and his four KO's produced an unlikely one hitter quitter against a prohibitive favorite in Siveanthi Nontshinga. I guess I shouldn't be that surprised that Surace and his four KO's produced a similar result in similar fashion.

Sometimes, boxers just find the sweet spot...and Bruno had already been making consistent contact with it as it wasn't being particularly well defended.

Mung got one punch ironed out by a fighter with a sub KO 20%

    Not acceptable

4 KOs in 25 fights going in vs 35 KOs in 45 fights

First and foremost, Mung needs to apologize to his father, his sons, his countrymen, and all the world's chin scientists like myself

And then he needs to hang up his gloves in shame and become a recluse

Nothing against him personally as he seems like a good guy but Mung is a typical weight bully with a heavily padded record who feasted on D and E levels and battleworn or shot C levels suffering from PTSD and arthritis

To be fair, he beat a handful of good guys, the best probably being Dev who, whilst, like Mung, is always a fierce, proud and gutsy competitor but was past his best too, very likely conceding a lot of weight to him, and that was razor-close and could've gone either way.

I'm genuinely shocked by this. Good on the Frenchman.

More surprising than the result was how quick the ref was to stop the fight. That was genuinely shocking. He basically counted him out at 9. I was stunned by that. In Tijuana? Really?

Is this why the US books pulled the line on this fight 4 days ago and never reposted when the line was up for 2 months?

Anything can happen in boxing. This was Munguia's 4th fight of the year. Only 4 KOs but he's been fighting mostly 6 rounders. Jamie got lulled into a false sense of security, thinking he was making easy work of the challenger. One surprise punch at lightning speed can change the fight. What an upset!

Surace won’t throw a cleaner right hand in his whole career… and it landed FLUSH on the button. It’s boxing, it happens.

what do you mean not acceptable? In this sport, a properly connected punch can knock out or hurt anybody. We’ve seen it throughout boxing history.

For starters Munguia has always shown good whiskers, he's proven that. Secondly KO ratios aren't the be all and end all. Danny Garcia could bang but didn't have the highest KO ratio. Lastly I have a feeling that Canelo may have half opened the jar when he dropped and hurt Munguia for the first time. When a fighter gets dropped and hurt it can lie on them and diminish their durability for longer than people realise.

I'm not hyping Canelo up here because he's not in my top 10 ATG at super middle but I do think there may be other factors. I also think while Canelo has clearly ducked Benavidez, he'd have a good chance of beating him.
