I just watched the fight. I'm a Munguia fan and this was very disappointing. As @Boxingfan2 said, just when it looked like Munguia was making some progress in his previous fights he reverts back to his old form. Munguia didn't cut off the ring, didn't make any adjustments and didn't know how to get out of the way of Kelly's punches. Against top competition who can handle his power Munguia's is going to have a real problem.

Most fighters aren't as slick as Kelly. Not saying Kelly is world class, but he has enough class to trouble a rugged fighter like Munguia who was there with one mission, to KO the unknown fighter, and despite his less than lack luster first 4 rounds, mission accomplished.

For those wondering WTF is Golden Boy doing with Mungia I think it’s pretty obvious. They’re obviously waiting to fight for a vacant belt against an easy matchup. Charlo is talking about moving up and you better believe they’re looking at the WBC ranking to see who’s a potential opponent. This guy was the mandatory for the WBO and WBC and has yet to fight for either belt. They want his run at 160 to be similar to his run at 154.

I like him a lot but he’s a walking L. He has to get better or he’s going to lose VERY soon.

He has to fight someone at some point.

Munguia is lucky Canelo/GGG 3 is happening, getting knocked out by a 40 year old men would be hard to comeback from.

Though I like that he acknowledged he was losing the fight and that he needed to switch gears, that’s a solid mindset. And his call out of Charlo was cool, really hope It wasn’t just hot air.
