Mungia not playing... Its unrealistic to happen this year Mungia will get a hometown soft touch 1st bout then Liam Smith Charlo will fight Trout then HURD So 2018 is booked But maybe 2019...
Munguia seems very tough and dangerous, but I feel his defense will be his downfall. Of course he's only 21, so if he has a world trainer they can refine him.
Lets see Munguia vs someone his own size before he tries to unify. The Liam Smith fight would be good. I'm curious.... can Munguia stop Smith faster than Canelo and do it on the road ?! This guy is a pleasant surprise, two weeks ago he was a nobody and everyone was dissing him, now he's a champion and a star in the making. Seems that his team wasnt so crazy afterwall
Well the truth is... He's been semi known as a top prospect No one ever said he was a BUM, but as a opponent for GGG it was very wrong cause 1. He was 21 2. Never fought at 160 3. Never fought anyone good in MX
I've only watched his 4rds vs Sadam Ali. At only 21yo Jaime Munguia has a lot of room for improvement, he's tall and lean, has good combos, has power in both hands and looks deadly from mid-range. Against Ali his gameplan was to get the KO asap and his team made the right call. He didnt care about defense that much, was open to a lot of shots but that might've been by design, to lure Ali in. If you like Mexican fighters, Munguia is definately one to watch.
This reminds me of when R.Guerrero fought Yordan and everyone thought Yordn was hot ****. Based off 4-6 rounds. I like what I saw but its was a way smaller guy with no power. Lets see him in with a real middleweight before we start talking about Charlo
He is crazy ******ed Ox strong & charging bull powerful, problem is he is super Raw, defense-senseless and comes in swinging a bit wildly with no jab to set things up. UnRefined but like a couple have said, he is young & it can be corrected.
Basic Mexican style (I went and researched and watched what I could prior to the Ali fight). Seems physically strong, come forward, slow. Double up on the left hook (body, head). Probably has a decent chin. He's very raw and being a strong, slow physical guy isn't gonna beat Charlo or Hurd (2 guys his size that have shown chins and are far more dynamic offensively) Beating Ali (who I am not high on at all) didn't prove much. Let's see him in with Liam Smith, J-Rock, Willie Nelson, Tony Harrison, Lubin, or JMW's trial horse, old man Ishe (all of who would likely beat Ali as well despite their rankings). There are an abundance of fighter's that can show where he really is.
