Most boxers DIDN'T go through that before the moved the weigh-ins back a day. Because, when you fought the same day you weighed in, you actually had to be in great shape when you weighed in because you were going to fight 10, 12 or 15 rounds in a couple hours. So you had to be peak.

    That's MY POINT.

Nobody is in peak shape when they weigh-in now. They need 30 hours to freaking recover and put on 15 or 20 pounds of liquids because they are emaciated and could never actually get in the ring after they weigh in and fight for 12 rounds.

It didn't prevent boxing deaths. It didn't prevent people from getting blood clots. It just made the weigh-ins a weight loss contest to see which big guy could lose the most weight before the weigh in and rehydrate as high as he could before the bell.

It's nonsensical now. They failed. They could change it back to a couple hours before the fight, and all that would happen would be all the champs would move up TWO divisions and try to win the vacant belts there because those champs all vacated and moved up two divisions, too.

It's not even a weigh in anymore because nobody weighs that when the GET IN the ring.

If they moved it back, people would actually weigh in at their "fighting trim" as they used to say and you'd actually see more guys competing at the weight because 149, 150, 151, 152 and 153 pounders would actually compete for 154-pound titles.

Instead of two 170 pounders barely making 154 and gorging themselves to pack on weight for the next 30 hours.

    It's madness.
