There has been a lot of talk and questions asking why would Jaime Munguia turn down a fight with Demetrius Boo Boo Andrade and give up the chance to win the WBO middleweight championship. Or why Jaime Munguia has chosen not to use his mandatory status at 160 to even challenge Demetrius Andrade. Well, the simple and short answer is because of Oscar De la Hoya and Golden Boy. If it was up to Munguia of course he would accept the bout because he is a boxer first and a fighter by heart. Unfortunately, Golden Boy Promotions is business first and greedy by heart. Oscar De la Hoya believes Munguia vs GGG is a better payday for him personally therefore has his focus is locked on GGG and not Andrade.
If you noticed as soon as Golden Boy reached out to GGG to sign a fight contract Canelo suddenly took interest in a fight with GGG again. Why is that? Canelo and his team know that not only will Munguia vs GGG be a huge payday but ultimately it would be another KO for Munguia. Once this happens GGG would be considered over the hill and not be a good draw for Canelo anymore.
Let's forget about GGG and Canelo for now and go back to Munguia vs Andrade. Does anybody really believe Munguia is scared of Andrade and is ducking him? If so you should go back and look at Munguia's fights because he has never shown an ounce of fear to anybody instead relentlessly comes forward eating his opponent's best shots like nothing and is undefeated with an 81% knock out ratio, 38w 30ko.
Sure Andrade has better movement and is very elusive but history has shown when Munguia fights quicker fighters than him he begins to destroy their body slowing them down before knocking them out. You can have the quickest head movement in the world but that means nothing when the body is at reach. Munguia knows this and is also a traditional Mexican-style fighter who dedicates most of his training to body shots. You have to admit, Mexicans love hitting the body more than the head.
If this fight were to happen it would be very entertaining but the moment would eventually come when Andrade would realize he hit Munguia with everything he had and Munguia is still relentlessly coming forward unfazed. I have Munguia winning in the 11th by body shot KO.

I would have agreed with you if Munguia was fighting GGG 4 or 5 years ago but that's not the case. The reality is GGG turns 40 in 6 weeks and had his last fight was over 2 years ago against Kamil Szeremeta who was ranked #7 with only 21 fights and only a small 24% KO ratio. That record doesn't even compare to Munguia and on top of that nobody really had even heard of Kamil.
I see Munguia absolutely destroying GGG.

GGG even at 40 is s nightmare scenario for Mungia. You must be crazy. That may be the worst matchup at MW for him.

Its a 50-50 fight but I lean a little to GGG. But by no means is it a guaranteed win for him. He has become lazy and fought very limited competition. He is also aging alot.

Your right about it being a nightmare fight but it will be for GGG and apparently Munguia believes so as well since he is the one asking GGG to sign the fight contract. Sure GGG is an oppressive fighter but that won't work with a real banger like Munguia. Also, think about this, GGG is 15 years older than Munguia but only has 4 more fights and only 5 more KOs than Munguia. Munguia will surpass that in less than 2 years and he still won't even be in his prime yet.

Munguia has gotten better over the last two years, but he only went from sucking to not sucking as much. There is still a ton of room for improvement from him. He’s getting his culo blasted by Golovkin and outpointed by Andrade.

Nothing to explain Jamie Mungia was the WBC and WBO mandatory and his team aren’t interested in taking those fights.. He has yet to be let off his training wheels. And I doubt he fight the guy they just mandated for him to fight for the interim title.

It was as blatant of a duck as it comes. Hopefully he won’t pull the same stunt against Janibek.

Of course, there is always room for improvement but with a record of 39 wins with 31 knockouts and an 81% KO ratio that's not sucking at all. Not sure how you came up with that? GGG and Boo Boo will just be another 2 wins with 2 knockouts added to his already impressive record.
