I'll be honest I've never seen this guy fight, but supposedly he's beaten up half of Mexico, has no losses and hits hard. Might be worth watching. If he manages to floor Golovkin these forums will melt down. There will be a sticky white river flowing from some posters apartments ...
Agreed. At this point, putting this on PPV is a giant slap in the face of the fans. I can't imagine many people will be buying it.
That's not how it works. Mexicans are boxing fans and know when a fight is good or a fight is a joke.
Frankly Andrade is sounding pretty good right about now. Just read the BF24 write up and it sounds like Jaime better have his life insurance paid up. This makes little sense, I think somebody had a brainwave "We need a Mexican" and fished this poor sucker out of the barrel. Even Cheeseburger Jr would have been a better choice ... assuming he doesn't weigh like 300kg already. Sigh.
Wow. Crazy how all this is playing out. I dont blame GGG. My man just trying to make some money. But at whose expense? The fans of course. I was planning on getting the rematch. They're out the god damn minds if they think people will buy GGG vs whoever this guy is. Spike was a better opponent. Either way this should be on regular HBO. Smh. Huge let down.
"GGG trying to preserve the payday against Canelo because his whole existence revolves around the Ginger. The backlash of this, if confirmed, will drown out the outrage over Canelo. Trust me. Fans will turn on GGG in a hot second." I got the above from another forum. I agree 100 percent.
So this BS fight will be on PPV???? Thats just stupid if it is.. How many buys?? I say from none to 50,000???
If fans continue to protest on these boxing forums, HBO will 100% reconsider. They are not in the business of losing money. On the flip side, the networks have always overestimated GGG's drawing power for some odd reason.
It's a crap fight but I'm not going to "turn on Golovkin" because he's in a crap fight. After CLENelo went and got himself busted for roiding to the gills they had to make a plan. This is the plan. It's a pretty shoddy plan, but it is what it is. Golovkin has waited out something like 2 fights that he would have had if it wasn't for El Pollo, and he's not getting any younger. Wilder had 37/40 fights that were a total bumfest, and he still has fans. I look forward to GGG / Saunders afterwards.
ill be a GGG fan no matter what. Hes done so much for the sport and his division. The recent news caused me to throw a tantrum because I was so ready to host a fight party and everything. Literally had 20-30 people to come over. Im over it now. But I really do believe that he's slipping and must be slipping hard to be throwing around names like this. Per CST80, BJS beats GGG. Im starting to agree with that now
I doubt the cash out could be worth it unless they think their guy will push Golovkin close or is completely awful and would get exposed by anyone half decent. Just think, this is a young, unbeaten Mexican prospect who hits very hard. The sky's the limit if he turns out to be semi decent. Cashing out for probably about $2-3 million max makes no sense.
GGG has been a champion 5 years longer than Wilder, and their resume's resemble each other. Just food for thought.
