good fight, it feels like munguia has been stagnating this feels like a solid step up. should tell us exactly where he is. i just wonder what the long game is? stay at 160? stay at 168 for GGG vs Alvarez winner? there are some viable names and he has been in 160 purgatory for a while, ranked but not forcing the issue for title fights
His career is stagnating because he keeps ducking Janibek. Ryder is decent, but he's no world killer. Munguia must think he has a chance because Ryder doesn't have a lot of power. Sooner or later, the Munguia hype trains will hit a brick wall. They just don't know which brick wall to run into yet.
To me it’s obvious they’re waiting on a belt becoming vacant and having an easy opponent to fight for it.. The way Oscar or his handlers has sabotaged his career is ridiculous. I still can’t believe Oscar didn’t allow that Charlo fight to happen when that was literally the best time yo face him..
The fight makes sense for Munguia if they really want to push forward towards a Clenelo fight. Good fight. I favor Ryder heavily but do not be surprised if they rob him in the US/Mexico if the fight goes to a decision.
I’m rooting for Ryder, but I don’t think his style will trouble munguia as much as someone’s who more of a boxer a slick type. jaime won’t have to go looking for Ryder and he will be able to get his combinations off probably at will, as long as he can keep composed when pushed on the back foot that is.
Juan Ryder is going to introduce Munguia to a brand of slickness he's never seen anything even remotely like in the gyms of North America
