Brown hopping around, lots of movement, somewhat jittery. Brown putting in the southpaw jab sashaying in and then outside again. They clinch but let the ref break them instead of fighting out of it. Brown comes in flurrying and suffers a flash knockdown from a short straight right by Janičić. A right hand feint by Janičić has Brown ducking and scrambling by the ropes, and Janičić throws and lands another straight right. Brown is sent stumbling across the ring. Janičić just rushes in and hammers him, including strikes while he's on the ground (which seems to be allowed, as long as the attacker is standing?) before the ref jumps in.

Sergey Martynov vs. Phillip Nicholas Fitzgerald Hawes, 3 rounds @ heavyweight

 

Phil "No Hype" Hawes is 12-6 in MMA, 1-0 in regular boxing, and 0-1 in DTY.

Sergey "The Butcher" Martynov is 18-5 in MMA, making his DTY debut.

Martynov, btw, very unfortunately shares a name with Sergei Kashfulgayanovich Martynov - the most notorious serial killer & raper in Russia's history. Might want to consider a different nickname.

 

10-9 Hawes

Youtube comments are calling him "No Chin" Hawes, but so far he's outboxing the Russian late-notice substitute.

 

Guess the people in the YT chat were right.

Hawes got rocked by some punches and elbows in the middle of R2, and kept holding but getting shoved off and slammed with more right hands or jawjacked on the inside with uppercuts. Hawes barely survives until the bell, clinging to Martynov tight.

Very quiet first minute of the final round...not sure what Martynov is waiting on. Maybe going to slog to a bonus round and hope that Hawes is gassed enough to become a fish in a barrel? He's already easy pickings after that second round, IMO...

Jessica-Rose "Jessy Jess" Clark from Australia is 11-9 in MMA, 1-0 in DTY.

Claudia "Phoenix" Zamora of Miami, FL is 5-5 in MMA, 1-1 in DTY, 0-1 in regular boxing.

Both ladies are in their late thirties.

 

They introduce Jessy Jess as being a current UFC fighter, but a) she last fought there in May of 2023 and b) she's on an 0-3 slump in that promotion - and unless I'm mistaken, that has always been Dana White's threshold for cutting a fighter?

Maybe more of an unofficial thing, but I can't remember too many instances where somebody was allowed to rack up more than three and stay with the company without going elsewhere and putting some wins on the board before returning.
