Ellenberger will now fight a new opponent, likely to be Tyron Woodley. According to MMAJunkie.com, Dana White said that Strikeforce welterweight champion, Tarec Saffeidine turned down the offer to fight Carlos Condit on under one months notice. Saffeidine is coming off a decision victory over Nate Marquardt January 12 in the main event of Strikeforces final card. good fight i think. Woodley should get the decision, but ellenberger is no slouch
Ellenberger is going to shatter that jaw into pieces. Hopefully. He has excellent TDD, superior striking technique, and is one of the most powerful strikers in the division. If he fights aggressive, yet smart, I don't see him losing.
Tough one. I could see it going like the Story fight (maybe not catching the submission as quickly), but I could also see him getting cracked on the way in. I would favour Maia. If he does score the takedown early, Ellenberger would probably gas underneath him trying to get up/fight off subs, and he would probably succumb to a submission later in the fight.
I just tweeted Dana requesting Maia get it but Woodley is better. Maia deserves to fight the winner of that one in a 'no.1 contendership' bout that will see the winner need 3 or more fights to actually get a shot. Then again he mentioned Tarec so maybe that'll happen with more notice for both.
Wonder how long Rory will be out? He may end up getting Maia when he returns. Tarec is definitely somewhere in the conversation, though.
Hopefully it's ages. Maia's ascent to a second title shot cannot come up against any bumps in the road!!!
