I actualy agree with that statement, but it's not based on a gay character that he once played, nor is it based upon the fact that he has no experience as a boxer.

It's based entirely on the merit that he's not an interesting interview.

5 months is actually a long time depending how many hours you put in those days, the quality of your instructors, and the amount of attention paid you can get a lot out of 5 months. People work on airplanes after only six months (highly critical job) I'd say for most jobs 80% of everything you need to know is learned in a very short time, it's the last 20% where time needed for mastery comes into play.

fine. again, he has no experience as a boxer or a fighter. therefore, his opinion fits in that category.

just rik. depending on what one is doing. yes, 5 months can be a very long time. all sorts of things come into play here. what king of conditioning did anyone, this actor, have prior to boxing training for five months? how well does he take a punch, does he know anything prior to training about throwing a punch and can he think while fighting. what sort of heart? i contend it is probably just an acting gig and he dksab. have trained a lot of people. trained them all the same. they all end up at different levels though. lots of intangibles.

Any interest in Denzel's opinions after he played the role of Rubin Carter or Will Smith after playing Ali? It's cool if you don't, just asking.

Right, intelligence, focus, dedication, hours spent, quality of trainers etc. All this comes into play, Jake is an "A" list actor so I'm sure there were not many problems coming from his end in the way of intelligence, focus, dedication etc. it really comes down to what quality of training he received. But I'm thinking he's turned out quite competent and a genius compared to many a poster we have here.

don't remember anything about Denzel. however, seem to remember that one of the boxers used for getting Smith ready for the role had some trouble with Smith's attitude and requested that he be allowed to "tune up" Smith. he was granted persmission and did so. he said it helped Smith a lot. If memory serves, the problem was that the actor was "believing he is Ali" and trying to be excessive with the boxers. again, just from memory.

just rik. yes. however, while those attributes are good it doesn't mean they will transfer well into the reality of combatives. it is possible though. it is a world of difference when you are dealing with the "hurting game" as opposed to the acting game.

on another note, if a boxer took five months of solid hard acting classes would he qualify as knowing much about acting as opposed to an actor that had been doing it for years and paid their dues? would his opinion matter a great deal to the other actors?

Yeah, I know. I was just poking fun in that a random actor playing a role for a movie has more experience in boxing than 90% of the people here who talk boxing every day including myself.

It's a disgrace that when asked which boxer most inspired him he failed to mention Money. Instead he mentions a guy that Money demolished. Smh.
