Ive got his whole standup routine from the Italian American Hall of Fame presentation on tape. He recycled all of his material to the point that got beyond stale but he killed em that night. Vikki was in the audience cracking up.
Nahhh,...y'see, Jake was a beloved humorist, and as our very own Klumpton would probably say, "ol' Jake kept em' in stitches"....(well, he did Vickie anyway), so all was forgiven with that wife abuse and pedo stuff...unlike that dour, humorless monster Monzon. Besides, he didn't kill Vickie like Monzon did Alicia Muniz..."beat 'em up just short of killing 'em, so you'll have your wife to torture the next day" was probably Jake's credo.....yeah....what a guy!!
LOL. Why dont you educate me on Jake and Vikki. Considering I have all of their home movies, taped phone conversations between them well into the 1980s, and probably more footage, and hours of Vikki's memories on their relationship. The salient point here is that Vikki could actually reminisce about Jake, unlike Monzon's wife (you know, the reason you are posting this nonsense). They stayed in contact and stayed friendly until Vikki's death. They talked on the phone frequently and they visited each other occasionally. Alicia Muniz never got that opportunity and Monzon's deluded fanboys cant seem to separate that fact from their enjoyment watching him beat up older smaller fighters while he spent three years ducking his top contender. As for PainMan's comment that Jake was a pedophile, which I assume was in regards to his pandering conviction. Jake was never accused of having sex with the under age girl. He was accused (and ultimately convicted) of allowing her to work her trade (prostitution) in his lounge. She was being pimped out by her father who she lived with as man and wife. I have a taped phone conversation between Vikki (who defended Jake and didnt believe the charges) and a later district attorney who is telling her that the entire thing was a setup because Jake refused to pay the local police protection money. But you go on and believe Jake was as bad as a serial wife beating murderer. Im not saying Jake was a saint, he was a piece of a ****. Trash basically. But when a bunch of lazy ass fanboys sit at home reading magazines and watching movies and think they know everything about a fighters personal life its pretty comical. Ive seen, read, heard, etc more on Monzon and LaMotta than you Red. Ive forgotten more about these guys than you. You are out of your depth.
I recall Jake talking about his father, Jake was a little boy and came home crying because an older boy had beat him up and taken his money for food. He handed Jake an ice pick and said ," next time hit'em first and hit'em hard". Jake was a rough SOB, guys who grow up in the gutter don't usually go out collecting for the red cross .
We are here to discuss boxing history. Whether or not the fighter in question was a good person, is not particularly important.
Actually I'd say a fighter's personal life is an important aspect of history, as well as their personalities are usually defining traits for whether they're on my favorites list I didn't expect arguing to come from it though
