No doubt this one's been done before but not for a while, methinks.

Not much of the sweet science here but an exciting clash between two aggressive brawlers. A very hard one to call. Jake may have been slightly the naturally bigger guy but Vito had the faster hands,I think. Would Antuofermo's propensity to bleed have been a factor here ? Aside from that, both men were very durable and could soak up copious amounts of punishment.

I figure a late round stoppage. Can't make up my mind about who would be the winner, though.

Honestly it might go either way. I was leaning LaMotta because he seemed a busier fighter and then rewatched Hagler / Antuofermo. For such an unheralded guy Vito did pretty well against Hagler, he took some big shots but also slipped a bunch and landed heavy leather on Marvellous in return. Right now I think it's 50-50.

Yeah, the narrative around that one is weird. Vito shouldn't have kept his title, but he did acquit himself well.

It was so long since I watched it it faded in my mind. For some reason I thought Hagler had thrashed him but in actual fact it was a pretty close fight that Hagler should have shaded. Antuofermo was no joke.

I think I had it like 10-5 Hagler, so I had it pretty clear for him. Still, though. Winning five rounds and going fifteen with a prime Hagler is no easy feat. Hagler was a little tired after twelve if I remember right. Very inspiring performance from Vito in that one. Hagler's approach in the rematch was much better though, he just decided to not give a **** about Vito's flyswatters and bashed him around.

I always thought Vito should've gotten the first fight with Minter too.

I favour LaMotta, but could be a really good fight, if Antuofermo wouldn`t be too sensitive for cuts.

George, hold on a minute, you think Vito beat Minter in that fight !!!! Wow, didn't see that coming, not that it matters a whole lot but, I went to to Vegas and saw it live, but no really mate Minter couldn't miss Vito for me it was a near master class of how to hit and not be hit, mind you I had a heavy bet on Minter, so maybe that clouded my judgment :) keep well.

the fight was close. I scored for Minter by 2 pts. I think a draw is reasonable but a few I know believe Vito edged it.
Eye on the Ring shows (small sample size) 63% disagree with a Minter win.

memory says this is in my top 10 hardest fights to score. Each round is closely contested and the final verdict can be fairly reflected in 2 of the 3 cards Vito by 2 to Minter with 3...the 3rd card is the worst I have ever seen (making Byrd look uncontroversial) having Minter winning by 12 rounds and only losing 1 round makes this verdict even more controversial. Dakin gave Minter the fight on a clearly biased card....and I say that as a Minter fan and one who scored for him. I think minter won, but Dakin was an idiot or a cheat....
