LaMotta outjabbed Robi in their last bout until the right hook to the body slowed him down, Graham did not have a body attack like Robi so couldn`t slow LaMotta down and would be wealked down after the stamina went from his legs like it did v McCallum because Graham wwas running so much, LaMota`s jab was so hard to read against Robi, he didn`t telegraph it at all and it was really quick and consistent, LaMotta wwas out of Graham`s depth completely.
is Herol Graham still alive? I know he's tried to commit suicide a few times. Poor guy, he must have earned peanuts during his nearly man career.
Herol Graham always found a way to lose, he could fight though he wasn't like an Indian. But he had that 'loser' gene that Indians have,
Please gents lets not get carried away here. Lamotta gets outclassed, and he is chasing shadows all night long. Graham was the most gifted 160 to come out of the UK at that time and yes he got stopped but not with someone like Jakes power.
Jake was a warrior. Tough as nails and relentless. But you couldn't have wrote Herol off if they'd have fought. Although Jake could have applied constant pressure, it certainly wouldn't have been unfeasible for Herol to have out manouvered him. Saying that he was out Herol's depth is frankly ridiculous. La Motta was 5'8 with a 67" reach. Herol was 5'11 with a 77" reach. You can't seriously be telling us that with a 10" reach advantage as well as an elusive style from a southpaw stance, that Herol couldn't possibly have beaten him?
i have only seen about 1 hour compilation of lamotta on a boxing greats video maybe 25 years ago i saw graham from novice to retirement graham was one of my favourite fighters he was avoided to the extreme he was number 1 contender for the light middle title of tommy hearns in the early 80s but was avoided and was in the who needs him club then he stepped up and was number 1 conteneder for haglers title in the mid 80s and again never got a shot i think it was in 1989 after 6 years of being a number 1 contender that he lost a split decision to mike mccallum
