@CroBox29 what do you think about this one ? Has boxing evolved far too much or would Lamotta administer a beat down ? I just don't know..... Jake's never seen a technical master like Sergio, and sports always get better over time....

 

I was just rewatching that last week.

I remember thinking of that quote and scene quite a bit before Hopkins-DLH. I knew Oscar had little chance and was wondering if he would take a bad physical beating, the way Joppy did when Hops made him look like a chipmunk.

I find these mythical matchups with fighters of the past hard to gauge when we don’t have that much film of them. We have St. Valentine’s Day Massacre and a few others, but you have to rely more on reputation and what others say.

 

You’re approaching equal footing with @InMemoryofJakeLamotta for this sort of “bit” we need a series of Galento threads and you’ll be able to approach the master.
