Oh yeah, I can tell from above that I am in the Classic forum. Eubank takes a comfortable 8-4 decision, and Lamotta while valiant needs to undergo major reconstructive surgery just so his mother can look at him.
A better fight than most will make it out to be. Both are high workrate warriors with cast iron chins. LaMotta is similar to Eubank in that both are very large middleweights (LaMotta was struggling to make 160 for his last fight with Robinson). LaMotta can handle himself in the physical strength department with Eubank All of my unspecified hypotheticals take place in a 15 rounder with lose reffing, which would give LaMotta's superior experience with 15 rounders and scummy tactics an advantage. Ill take him by loose decision. Wouldn't be surprised to see Eubank take a decision either. Then again i rank the fab 4 of Jackson-McClellan-Benn-Eubank higher than most
LaMotta outboxes him quite clearly. His better left, underrated defense and increased pace would force the issue. His only problem is the lack of power and Eubank's countering ability, though Eubank wouldn't force it enough IMO.
Jake would have too much gas for Eubanks who liked to take breathers and fight spasmodically.Lamotta would hustle him ,applying constant pressure to take a clear decision.
Eubanks didn't have a high work rate, any barn burners he was ever in were the result of the pressure from his opponent. He liked to take rounds off posing and taking breathers.Lamotta struggled to make 160 lbs most of his career.
Tonto62 has this one completely nailed on in both his posts above, especially regarding workrate. I would take LaMotta to beat Eubank every day of the week & twice on Sunday and I am not as high on La Motta as some. In a 15 rounder, I think it's possible La Motta could run Eubank's gas tank dry and stop him.
