This content is protected Excellent film, it looks outstanding. Jake was really something else, a real specimen seemingly carved out of concrete Jake "Head of Stone" LaMotta
It is a really great film and colorization. Looks like a 21st century film. As for the fight, Jake looked totally out of his depth against a fighter with limited skill. My reaction is the final situation was similar to the Ike Williams stoppage of Beau Jack. Jack stayed on his feet also although Williams was more accurate getting punches home and was hitting Jack cleanly. LaMotta was keeping his chin down. I thought the referee should have stopped this one when LaMotta was not fighting back and was even holding onto the ropes.
Jake was near the end , even though he was about 30 years old here he only fought 3 more times. He looked sluggish and against a younger ,stronger light heavyweight he was overpowered. LaMotta had no business at 175 pounds as his power wasn't starching 160 pounders in his prime.
J Jake was a lot of things a puncher he was not- God had a sense of humor and gave him daisy fists but a granite skull full of rage.
I've seen a number of recent colorizations done on old fights. Quite frankly, none impress me. The colors are not natural, and there are constant shifts in movements where you can see remnants on the original black and white. Besides, B&W is more dramatic... which is what boxing is all about.
