Seeing the iron jawed Eubank at the end of his career vs. Carl Thompson got me thinking.

    Thoughts?

Jake would murder that glass jawed hype job, Haye is physically superior in every way probably, but mentally he is far weaker. I never once seen Lamotta go down from a partially blocked shot from an average puncher, like Haye did against Thompson.

I see Haye trying to go toe to toe with Lamotta early on, and Yes, he will land alot of his shots. Lamotta being an extremly tough and very game fighter will fight back and by the 3rd round he will start to find openings in Hayes very low and weak guard, and before you know it, Lamotta will land the big right hand that will put Haye on his ass, Haye will get up and try to fight back, but will eventually meet the canvas again, by that time the ref will wave the fight off.

Haye is a great athlete, but he lacks the heart and the mental toughness of Jake, I will take mental over physical strength anyday.

I'm a big fan of David Haye and consider myself fairly realistic about the comparisons between modern and past fighters and I don't see this as that much of a mismatch.

Haye may be big and powerful, but LaMotta was durable as hell and determined to boot. He would be a live underdog IMO.

I was too harsh on Haye, I feel he's a good fighter, with a hell of alot of talent, and he doesnt have a glass jaw now, though he might when he jumps up to Heavyweight, I said it many times, Haye reminds me alot of Razor Ruddick, has all the physical tools, great power, speed, finishing ability, but on the negative side, they never listen to there corner, and they both have weak chins.

Time will tell what becomes of Haye, I just feel he's very overrated in the fact he only fought once at Heavy and never fought a guy with good power. I do believe it will be an eye opening experience when he realizes he's no longer the big man or the best puncher, I really do think he's in for a wake up call soon.

Lewis destroyed him with ease, Morrison came back to lay him out, I know alot of people feel Tyson broke his chin, and that may be right, but it still doesnt excuse the fact his chin gave out on him on a few occasions. I didnt say he had a glass chin, but I do think it proved to be weak after Tyson.
