McClellan. I feel like his size and strength would be overwhelming for LaMotta, it will be similar to the beating Nardico gave him.
LaMotta just didn't have the power to get Mclellams respect. I'm sure he could outwork him for a bit, but G Man would eventually catch him in the corner and put him to sleep
LaMotta was a pretty damn big middleweight, Not too powerful. Knew hot to take a shot and drag opponents into deep water. I'd pick Gerald but if the odds were decent I'd lay money on Jake.
True. Jake would be worth a bet if the returns were worth it. But I just think that McClellan takes it.
Most of LaMotta’s best wins are against welterweights while he came in at or often over the middleweight limit and had an edge of 10 pounds. Wouldn’t be the case here. He takes a beating. Question being can he take it for the distance or does he get pounded into submission?
Hi Buddy. You are not wrong in your assertion that G-Man would hurt LaMotta, if there was one fighter that excelled in the getting hurt department, it was Jake, but hurting him and beating/stopping him, was another matter altogether, he had complete disdain for punishment, he was impervious to pain, when you look at the calbre of his opposition, it's a daunting array of punchers and boxers, the likes of : Reeves, Barosa, SRR, Marshall, Zivic, Lytell, Fox, Cerdan, and the murderous punching Satterfield, only the sugar man was good enough to make the ref redundant, compared to the above, G-Man had 85% of nobodys on his record, the only fighters remotely approaching the illustrious names above were, Benn ( lost ) Mugabi, best days were prob behind him, and Jackson dito, finding it hard to see how McClellan would win over LaMotta, I can see Jake taking some heavy punches early on, and being hurt and rocked, then he would come on strong, pressing G to the ropes, hitting him often, not hard shots, but repeated shots, wearing G down, the later rounds LaMotta would be hell to live with, McClellan would have shot his bolt, he knows there is nothing he can do to keep Jake off him, unless Jake has to shed 25/30 pounds before the fight, I see him winning by late stoppage. stay safe guys.
Just the hurt part lol Lamotta like Bounty. Absorbs everything! What are both fighters natural weight class in your opinion @Mike Cannon ?
Jake Lamotta's grantite chin and endurance edge Gerald Mcclellan here for me. If G man doesn't gas out and goes the distance I see Jake winning this one on points.
Hi Buddy. Well the both could and did make the middleweight limit when they needed to, harder for LaMotta of course, who used to blow up between fights, but they both had lots of fights around 164 as an approx weight, later Jake fought over 170, but that was toward the tail end of his career, so on balance around middleweight , hope that is of some help ? stay safe matey, chat soon.
Hi Buddy. Looks like they have banned you, comes as some surprise to me, your posts were informative, balanced, and in the main quite benign, have you been given the reason ? stay strong hombre.
Gerald McCellean is one of the most overrated fighters on this site. I mean What fighters he KO'd that had not been koed before? By fighters that didn't have his reputation as this "devastating " power puncher. For instance Mugabi and J.Jackson. Mugabi was done after Hagler. He quit against Thomas, and got blitzed by Norris in one rd. Those fights were well before he simply showed up against McCellean. Jackson was stopped early by McCallum, and dropped by multiple different fighters in his career. He was at the end of his career when he fought McCellean. Other than those two , his career consists of a who's who of 2nd and 3rd rate fighters , most had prior ko losses prior to fighting him. Where are his "signature " ko's ? Hearns had many. Tyson had a few. Robinson. Ali. Leonard. Duran. Louis. Lopez Gomez Sanchez All the fighters above had ko's wins that were absolutely shocking. Against live and skilled opponents. Where are McCelleans? Nigel Benn had been stopped by fighters not known for great punching power. But McCellean couldn't stop him? A fight that ultimately almost killed him, his "devastating " power landed on Benn for 10rds. Yet he was the one carried out the ring. McCellean looked the part, but he clearly wasn't what some suggest he was. I believe after some tough early rds, a fighter like LaMotta would close the distance on McCellean. , Keep him from getting the room , and leverage he needed , and began to grind McCellean down. LaMotta was a lot like Duran with lower body strength, being the shorter man, he'd be able to push and keep McCellean on the ropes and in the corners. Those mauling tactics would keep McCellean from getting the leverage he needs for his power shots, LaMotta would wear him down, and takes him into deep water, drowns him in 10rds.
