I went with Nunn on points.. Jake was too tough to get stopped by Nunn. But I think Nunn's reach and outside boxing skill gets him the judges' nod.
very close fight, nunn was a natural lhw very tall he was around 6´2, lamotta would have a lot of work if he wants to win this fight, but i think that a focused lamotta in his best night would work the body pretty well and would be the aggressor here, i go with the raging bull by close decision
I agree that it would be close. And even though I went with Nunn, I shouldn't count out the man who beat Robinson.
For some reason, I'm having a very hard time envisioning this fight. Nunn has a huge reach and height advantage, and a significant speed advantage too. Lamotta brings underrated boxing skills, a cast iron jaw, meanness and excellent body punching to the table. If it's the Nunn from the Barkley fight, where he failed to impress against a shopworn Iran, then I gotta go with Jake. Nunn didn't look good there and his speed advantage didn't seem to make much difference. He lay on the ropes too much doing nothing and allowed a lackluster Barkley back into the fight. But the guy who beat Frank Tate and Juan Roldan was a very, very capable fighter. And tough too, not as tough as Jake but no cutie. I think that version of Nunn does quite well against Lamotta.
Nunn was 6'1. LaMotta fought taller guys(Bob Satterfield for example) and guys around the same size, like Jose Basora. He fought guys with every advantage Nunn has and more. Jake by UD.
Would not be surprised if Nunn fought a cute fight moving and clinching and took a decision from Jake...on the other hand, LaMotta would be forcing the fight all the way, and if properly reward for aggressiveness Jake could take it...I think it is fair to say that the time frame in which the fight takes place could decide your winner...I'll lean towards a prime LaMotta applying enough intelligent pressure, jabbing his way inside to push Nunn out of his comfort zone, to get a UD.
