i just watched first fight against SRR and i can say that LaMotta had incredible jab.. no one speaks about it, just had to mention
Great skills. The book I read by Dave Anderson on Sugar Ray has Ray stating something like when he was hit by Lamotta "it felt like a knife across his stomach and he knew he was hit by the Bronx Bull", or something like that.. On top of that Robinson was knocked down a few times by Lamotta. I think Jake hit hard enough to earn respect but he wasn't a KO puncher. He is hard to place like Basilio and Greb. Punchers with not a lot of KO's. Some guys are just pure fighters. They don't look for anything other than to cause pain on the other guy. Graziano is known as a puncher and rightly so but, I think if him and Jake ever had locked up, I think the power would have been on Jake's side. I just have that feeling.
