Jake Paul Phony Fights Discussion

A guy who's boxed non-stop for 3 years vs a guy who's been retired for 5 years and was never a boxer anyway.

It's a smart fight for Paul. It could do Mayweather V McGreggor type numbers I reckon AND the odds are stacked massively in his favour.

 

I want Tate to win but I admit Jake Paul has improved. Tate has been retired for 5 years and he will be 37 by the time they fight.

 

Hoping for a devastating double KO

 

I'm shocked the WBC hasn't ordered this fight yet as they have been with everyone else this week.

 

I'm not saying they should or shouldn't put the fight on. I'm saying that they initially nixed the Davis-Romero bout over allegations that were lightweight by contrast with the R. Kellyesque sex trafficking/sexual violence stuff that's been floating around Tate, so I'm wondering if it won't prove an impediment to the fight going ahead if some similar online movement to cancel the bout starts gaining notice and making execs uncomfortable.


Tate is gathering moss that will be used to suffocate him sooner or later. It's just a matter of time.

Tate just became a Muslim. Converted Muslims take that whole thing more serious. Boxing is haram, sin in Islam.

 

It baffles me that anyone would root for Tate, but have a 'Like' for the concession on Jake's progress.

 

Fair enough it baffles me that anyone roots for Jake Paul he is a punk who disrespects all time greats in boxing and MMA

 

He has foibles as well as likeable qualities. Moreover, I appreciate him for dedicating himself to the craft to the extent that he has and for openly crediting it with having gotten his life on the rails and given him structure. That shows respect for boxing, notwithstanding the theatrical Canelo call-outs and Floyd-baiting and so on.

 

paul is above average considering he only has 3 years of boxing training, had zero amateur fights, started late . He has made me look at all these "prospects" with their fancy medals turning pro and fighting tomato can after tomato can on ESPN in disgust. You can either fight or you can't when it comes down to it, stop wasting time.

 

Sounds like the Ideal life.

 

If its not Jake vs Tommy No Gunn Fury, then I don't give a damn.

 

It was proved that the allegations against Tate were total BS.

Tate vs Jake is unironically one of the biggest mega-fights that could happen in boxing, the amount of money that will be made from this will be monumental. Shareholders won’t let some flaky BS allegations get in the way of all those dollars.
