Jake Paul vs world HW champions from Sullivan to Dempsey

    If Jake Paul is transferred with a time machine to the time of the earliest heavyweight champions, do you think he would be able to become a champion? He could choose the year of their reign to challenge them.
    How do you rate his chances against:
    Sullivan
    Corbett
    Fitzsimmons
    Marvin Hart
    Tommy Burns
    Jess Willard
    Would he be able to surprise Johnson, Jeffries or Dempsey in some of the years of their reigns too?

    He would lose to anyone who can apply basic pressure who isn’t a walking corpse, even ones far far below the elite level. Look at how terrified he was of a washed Mike Perry’s pressure early on, who was outweighed by 30 pounds and has no boxing skill. He ran and clinched until Tyson’s legs gave out. Jake sucks.

    Can you imagine Jake Paul taking the place of Jake Kilrain and fighting Sullivan for 75 rounds? Can you picture him in those tiny gloves fighting Fitzsimmons on a riverbank someplace? Those were hard men, hard rules and hard fights. I think that Jake Paul is afraid to get hurt, even if he doesn't know it yet.

    Except Sullivan wouldn’t need to economize his approach like he did against Kilrain, it wouldn’t last nearly that long imo. I doubt Paul gets up to compete for the second round.

    I agree. That would be when he finds out that he is afraid of getting hurt.
