And that would still be a step up... And not a small one, either.

Usually not for East Europeans and Central Asian boxers, though.

They did a great job of promoting Jared Anderson, Terence Crawford, and Floyd Mayweather.

But did a terrible job with Korobov and Mekhontsev, and now Jalolov. And Lomachenko, who usually fought meaningless opposition wasting his prime away, and they allowed Lawrence Cole, dishonest Texas judges and a much heavier opponent to cheat him.

Like I said, they do a good job with the prospects. Loma got exactly what he wanted: a title shot asap. Well, Loma wanted it in his first fight but TR got it for his second. And then they got him another crack in his 3rd fight.
Korobov rose through the ranks steadily and often against established lower tier opponents. It´s not TR´s fault he lost to Andy ****ing Lee.
Crawford was a nobody and they built him into a world champion headlining HBO cards.
FFS, they turned Ray Beltran into a world champion!

The problem with TR has been the lack of good fights at the world level.

My sources tell me the opponent is either an Albanian goat herder or a Moldovan sheep shearer

I'd probably advise against it as he probably needs to get ready for the 2028 Olympics

His fight was canceled again, it seems to me that he himself is not interested in professional boxing...

Agree. Shame as it's a waste of talent but he's going absolutely nowhere

That's disappointing but also not surprising. He should be at the stage now after winning a 2nd Gold medal to be stepping up against quality opposition but he seems content to be fighting nobodies.

It's a shame, he has talent but it doesn't look like he has the hunger for the pro game.

Probably saw footage of his next opponent looking a bit dangerous at the truck stop.

    What a coward.

There's potential there, I would be (and have) been the first to point out that potential is zero guarantee of greatness, there's certainly no guarantee he'd have been a contender even if he'd tried... But to not try at all is cowardly - perhaps he knows something we don't, or perhaps he just doesn't care as he'll be a celebrity for life in his country already.

It's a shame with a limited amount of talent coming through already, but it's getting close to time to just forget the guy altogether.

I'll tell you what ruins careers: victim mentality and making excuses.

Jalolov didn't step up in the pros before because winning the second olympic gold meant a lot to him. If he has the drive for success in the pros, which is a serious if, I have no doubt the opportunities will come to him and would back him to have more success than the likes of Hrgovic and Yoka.

He only signed with Top Rank in 2023 I believe. He signed with Fight Promotions Inc when he turned pro in 2018. I think it's more than just a Top Rank issue.

Fact is he never stopped being an amateur after turning pro after Rio. He's had 14 pro fights since Rio and 57 amateur fights. Pro boxing seemed to be a side hustle for Jalolov, why would any promoter push a fighter who is basically a part time pro boxer?
