This content is protected Rumoured to jalolov’s next fight big step up for him but I still expect him to get the stoppage, Ortiz punch resistance has completely gone.
The Luis Ortiz of the Sam Langford or even Jack Sharkey fights might have won this, but he is at least 70 years past his best.
A good fight that will push Jalolov maybe even into the Top 10 and open the door to big fights, Ortiz has no chance in my opinion and Jalolov will stop him in the early rounds...
Fighting the zombified corpse of a guy with a gatekeeper level resume? Excuse me for not being super impressed.
Good step up fight for Jalolov if it happens. Ortiz has a name people recognise and has been slowly declining for years, but with his power is still dangerous. If Jalolov can win more convincingly that Wilder and Ruiz he'll no doubt get some hype behind him.
Still better than the guys he's been fighting to date as a pro. So it's still a good step up and a win even over the corpse of Ortiz has name recognition value. At this stage he isn't going to be fighting top contenders he needs to be brought up in class in increments and this quite frankly is a better opponent than I would expect for a step up now.
I can't necessarily disagree too much with this. That said, he's 29 - just a couple of years younger than Parker... If he's not going to start stepping up fast and taking on fights he might be expected to lose (and proving people wrong) it might just be too late to make the kind of progress necessary to fulfill his potential. Right now, dare I say it, it's looking like the Joyce model of leaving it far too late to start going for it as a pro... And even though Joyce stepped up at a good rate once he started, the lack of good pro fights and technical development meant he peaked at a lower level than maybe he was capable of?
I forget he's that old and that he went to 2 Olympic games. So yes he needs to really be stepping up now and he really needs to decide if he's a pro or an amateur and commit to one sport. With boxing looking like it won't be an Olympic sport anymore he's wasting his time after the Paris games this year. I agree about Joyce, he's never really developed a full pro style. With his size and strength he should really be a more physical fighter like Fury who mauls and smothers faster fighters and that's an element to his game that I thought would always limit him as a pro. Had Fury not turned pro so young I doubt he'd have the array of skills he possesses.
I'm quite sure that Jalolov will stop Ortiz sooner than Wilder and Ruiz because Jalolov is simply better than both of them and has the power to do it...
Does it? Ortiz right now wouldn't beat Miller - too durable for a start, and Ortiz would certainly gas if he fought the version Dubois did recently. And I'm not a big fan of Dubois - I've said many times he's still an over pushed prospect... He's improving, but a long way from the finished article.
