Firstly, Ruiz hasn't really been initiating clinches at all for the last few years. His fight with Chagaev was pretty exciting, and he clearly out boxed Valuev, looking quite a bit etter than McCline did in his 3 round shot. There is no reason for anyone to deny the fact that Ruiz should be favord in this fight. About the only thing McCline has on his side is power, and Ruiz has a pretty solid chin. With the exception of the Tua fluke, he hasn't really even bee phased. My money goes on a clear, undeniable UD for Ruiz.
This fight isn't televised if I remember correctly. We are all safe from a worse fight than Klit/Iggy.
Uh why should Ruiz be favored? He has a LOSING record right now. He CLEARLY lost to Toney, he lost to Valuev, he lost to Chagaev. He is not favored in this fight.
He's had a few losses of late, that's for sure. But each fight was fairly close. In fact he was straight up robbed against Valuev, and he was in it right up until the last round against now-title-holder Chagaev. He lost to a Toney who tested positive for juice, so obviously that nulifies that loss. Ruiz has been in closer contention with higher ranked fighters than McCline. Granted he hasn't been as active, but he has proven over the last 5 years that he is one of the better fighters in the division(not saying much), and has done more in proving his ability to box than McCline. Like I said, McCline will have to knock him out, and that's hardly probable.
Oh man, better break out the Chuck Mangione and Barry White albums. If you play either of these while watching a John Ruiz fight, it looks like your watching a slow dance competition of dancing with the stars.
