A bif off subject......but I remember when Tszyu fought Sharmba Mitchell the first time. Mitchell supposedly injured his leg, there was innuendo before the fight about his leg. Anyway when the fight was stopped (international broadcast) there seemed to be a little bit of confusion as to whether they were gonna give Kostya the fight, even though it should have been cut and dried!

I almost certainly haven’t seen as much boxing recently as a lot of yas on here but I don’t think I can remember seeing someone decided the outcome of a fight like he was being asked what he wanted for dinner, I can’t see any argument for this situation and I will go as far to say that this is the worst form of corruption I have seen in boxing or any sport tbf

It couldn't be worse than an evening with Lawrence Cole surely?

You can watch for the comedy of Andre Ward thinking Frampton had no chance against Herring only to 180 to "Frampton will whoop that ass," I suppose.

Yes but that’s where I must be explaining myself wrong, ok that’s confusion with him getting the decision or not.
This is a competitor deciding the decision.
It’s like asking a tennis player if a match point that was on the line or not and him deciding in his favour.

No, I get you but I mention that fight because it was one if the first I can remember watching 'live' where a guy quit and there seemed confusion after in terms of whether he would lose or not. I totally get what you mean. That Marquez fight I mentioned refereed by Cole. I'm sorry, I have seen so many fights, I momentarily forget his opponent that night. Anyway, Cole said to him in between rounds something along the lines of 'if you can't continue, you win the fight on points!"

The 12 rounds of Ziani-Dilmaghani would fly by a lot quicker.

Fights get stopped all the time on cuts accidental or intentional but I don’t remember a situation where the ref is asking fighter if he wants to end it, it was confusing all round the ref even seemed confused, the lad Nelson was absolutely baffled, the sport is facing the most difficult time in its history (Modern) and it’s letting itself down regularly with corruption, but this for me is a new low that I haven’t seen before opening the door for a fighter to quit.
You get stopped by ko, your corner throws the towel in, a tko, injury but at no point should you ever get asked if you want continue or retire and get the decision.

Just watched, really just tuned in for Anderson and was impressed with Nelson

I'm torn on the main event

On one hand oquendo wasn't really boxing he was just headbutting and occasionally punching. I'd hate to see a guy win just using his head like that.

With herring I get it. The guy cut you which can cause issues in future fights and the headbutting can do other damage as well. I get it

I mean Weeks I think was ok telling them the scenario and when the corner asked what to do he said I cant tell you that

This on the doctor/commissioner for not verifying the eye

I guess its like the oj glove situation. If herring knows all he has to do is say I can't see he is gonna do what it takes with the doctor to force his hand

Oquendo was fighting dirty as hell. Period point blank. He knew it was his only option in this fight. No he doesn’t always fight like that but that’s not the point. In THIS fight he was being a dirty c*nt. Are we supposed to give him the benefit of the doubt here for being a try-hard guy who isn’t normally dirty? Herring has a career payday with Frampton coming and he’s got some guy trying to gash cuts open using his head as a battering ram. Say he takes another one in the cut he already has and rips the thing open so badly he’s on the shelf for so long he loses the Frampton payday to someone else? At the end of the day these are prizefighters and we have to put ourselves in the shoes of the fighter. I HATE seeing guys bail out of fights but let’s be real -
it was a near shutout on the cards. Oquendo wasn’t getting him outta there. He’s not a puncher. This was not Andre Dirrell. That guy is the worst.

So I just watched it, the bizarre thing was that Weekes seemed to be only interested in Herring being declared the winner not whether or not the cut was too bad or not?
