At there bests booked for fifteen rounds!~ I can see Micheal having some scary moments but his heart and underrated durability save and he coasts his way to a hard earned victory giving James a bit of a boxing lesson, I don’t think his power is enough to stop the ol BoneCrusher tho this is what makes the bout exciting as James pours on the pressure fearless of a stoppage!
I saw them fight on TV in 1993. It was broadcasted during the day if I recall perhaps on a Saturday or Sunday. Moorer pretty much dominated the action but an old smith hung in there with him and may have landed a few decent shots here and there. I’m surmising that if this was the 1986 rendition of smith and Not the 1993 version he might have won. Moorer was a good fighter and did the best he could for a light heavy moving up in weight at a time when heavyweights were getting increasingly bigger and stronger. He also had somewhat of an advantage with his southpaw style. But his chin was shaky and he tended to get too brave against big hitters as seen against Foreman and Cooper. I think James with his size, Power and chin might be the deciding factors here. But who knows...
Smith by ko. Behind on the cards, has he was against Bruno, a last min surge has Moorer down and out.
Moorer would beat him from range and if it’s in close, he is more skilled in close than Smith, he would beat him either way Edit: I just looked, they fought and Moorer won clearly, I never knew that they fought until now Moorer was 25 and Smith was 39
I was thinking, "no way, Bonecrusher couldn't have been 39." But you're right. I forget that he didn't turn pro until he was 28.
Whenever it was, it was not a million miles before his fight with Moorer... Smith signed it in, in all his big fights (Holmes, Tyson and Moorer), Moorer/Smith was awful, a complete stinker. A Smith five years younger is not changing that.
