That's why you gotta keep those hands up. He was basically waiting on the ropes for the final knockout punch to land.

Bruno took some serious bombs, but always got up...or was still standing in a daze.

From Tyson, to Witherspoon, to Lewis, to Cummins, to.................

The KO looks even more brutal from a different camera angle which is not included in this video. Could have been a career ender, but Bruno was in good spirits immediately after the fight, claiming he just got caught after putting on a boxing exhibition and would be back the better for it.

But his manager Terry Lawless was not. Because as well as Bomber going down to defeat, his other money maker (Mark Kaylor), also lost to 'an unknown American Journeyman' (Buster Drayton) on the same bill!

Last I checked Bonecrusher retreated to his hometown of Rocky Mount, NC, lost weight, became a pastor. All good. I'll have to check up on this...

:good this is why bonecrusher makes my top ten of genuine 225lb plus heavyweights of all time. In the 225 plus range you have lennox, bowe, tokyo douglas, carnera, willard and then smaller ATG's out of shape. crusher was a genuine 225 plus guy.

I live in Chapel Hill and there are just not enough good boxing venues or top notch shows...Charlotte has the numbers but boxing never caught on here..I remember when Bonecrusher fought Ruddock and I was still rooting Razor against the native son... But Bonecrusher is one of my favorites for sure... shame as I live and breathe boxing from the 80's onwards

I have "Smith-Ruddock" from '89 on tape.... Frazier was in Smith's corner for that KO loss to Ruddock.....

North Carolina gives a **** about boxing... But the rednecks here love to race tractors.... CHRIST!

All of North Carolina is not rednecks...Chapel Hill is definitely not a redneck area such as Eastern North Carolina..I was watching Ruddock-Smith on NBC i think in Greenville that Saturday afternoon and loved the fight... waiting for the day that a truly good card can come to Raleigh at maybe the RBC Center ...Mr. Bill...do u not get into the rivalry of Tobacco Road during Basketball season?

I remember that fight Bruno was ahead but very stiff and when BC Smith landed that punch he, Smith was shocked himself. Smith was a big boy but reminded me of Jamil McCline, he was not as much as a killer as he looked only in the Witherspoon 2nd fight and in the Holmes fight he caught a thumb and did not like the sight of his own blood

Bruno always looked impressive getting KO'd as big and muscled as he was..he was a muscled victim

Agreed. The list of genuine 225 pound plus peak conditioned heavyweights is a short one, and gets even shorter if the championship distance is never abolished. Smith trained for that distance twice, coming in at 227 for Holmes, and 228 for Spoon II. (Tim came in at 227 in winning that WBA Title over Tubbs, while Tubbs himself weighed 229 in dethroning Page for it, both over the championship distance, so there is actually some evidence that heavyweights were getting bigger at the end of the championship round era. Still, breaking 230 did not become routine until after it became clear that rounds 13, 14 and 15 were gone, clearing the way for steroids and oxygen guzzling muscles.)

Quite a shock, this one,at the time. Mark Kaylor was on the bill, and he also got upset, against Buster Drayton. Terry Lawless had to sit through two of his guys losing on the same night. Poor man !

Typical of Bruno. He wasnt waiting on the ropes, he was frozen on the ropes. Bruno froze when he was hit cleanly, you can see this type of scenario in just about everyone of his losses. He also has the same frozen look on his face that basically says oh ****, Im completely defenseless.
