a genuine 225lb conditioned heavyweight is as rare as hens teeth and rocking horse ****. even allowing for real giants I belive a 238lb capp on title fights wouldnt hurt anyone. bowe weighed as low as 218-225 when he was good and he had a bigger frame than the slobs and enhanced frankenstiens that pass belts around today..

It didn't help him here but I can't help getting amazed how long Bruno's arms look, his wingspan would shame an albatross!

Bruno could box. He could fight.

But he couldn't fight back. That was his great weakness (I put Gerry C-o-o-ney in the same category). When they took hard shots, they lacked the ability to engage or problem-solve through the situation.

Bruno v Smith was way more competitive and two-sided than the British television commentary made out. Too much praise for Bruno.
Smith was probably a little over-concerned about Bruno's reputation and fought too cautiously, but closed the show rather well.

Bruno was lucky to have made it out of the Jumbo Cummings fight a couple of fights earlier, but they had to take a step up and fight someone half-decent like Smith (still largely unknown and non-rated), and Bruno was exposed properly this time.

As Bruno went up in class he stopped ramming home the "step in" jab and stayed content with a "don't hit me jab" where he was just using the end of the punch to make contact. He was more wary and consumed with the pressure of an entire nation on his shoulders the higher the stakes got. It's a great pity Frank did not have that "Don't give a sh!t", bad ass temperament.

Turnip... boxing generates maybe two or three million dollars at most in this area... basketball, football and the dreaded car racing generates billions... go figure those results and see how popular the sport is
