Two huge hitters and both had decent chins. How do you see this playing out?

Smith never won a war. He was big and strong but a bit of a front runner. He lost to Holmes, tyson Ruddock, Witherspoon, Moore, Page, even marvis freaking Frazier. A cat could probably outbox him. His best wins are a young Bruno, weaver, and an unmotivated Witherspoon who was basically forced into the ring.

Rahman has wins over Lewis, berbick, sullivan, and sanders. Thats enough to convince me he'd win at his best. Even his losses were usually close competitive fights (tua, toney, etc).

Rahman is very rugged and determined while Smith often fights at a plodding pace usually just looking for one big hit. Both have big right hands but Rahman us a bit more well rounded and active.

One thing Smith has going for him however is his chin and size advantages. He knew how to fight tall and was an expert clincher, so i doubt Rahman could follow up and finish him even if he managed to rock him badly. Push comes to shove, a wounded Smith is not above stalling and refusing to open up.

Gun to my head, I'd say Rahman wins a close decision 7 rounds to 5 with most of the action picking up in the mid rounds then slowly dying down with both men tired and leaning on each other. Rahmans workrate gives him the edge.

Maskaev KOing Rahman twice behind right hand power has me thinking about this one.

Rahman would outbox him with the jab and Smith would not really push the pace

I really doubt that. Smith was not particularly difficult to outbox, but Rahman wasn't a master class put on a clinic with my jab type of boxer either so it kind of cancels itself out.

Rahman was the better fighter overall but smiths power would make him a threat.

Rahman had some kind of jab there and boxing ability, Smith had none whatsoever

Tough to say, I'd definitely pick Smith to KO Maskaev. But then again, I can't see Rahman losing to Marvis Frazier either.

I think Rahman should be a fairly comfortable favourite. He had some skills, power and at his best showed he had the grit to walk through fire to get the win.

Smith's power gives him a chance though.

And in the real world Rahman could blow hot and cold; he wasn't always ready for trench warfare.

On best night I think bonecrusher but if they fought 7 times I think Rahman wins 5 or 6 of them. The odd one out he glasses late from the clinches and Smith laying on him

    Rahman wins on points.
Early on, Smith gets rocked by a big right hand, really shaken up.
From there on, Smith begins to fight negatively, wrapping up Rahman and never really committing to the fight.
Plenty of boo s thru out.
