Dear Friends kind regards Here is an interesting match that has never been highlighted on Fantasy Warfare or anywhere else. In 1990, Buster Douglas shocked the World when he got himself in the best condition of his life to stop Mike Tyson. What would happen if Buster Douglas and Razor Ruddock fought on their best day? Ruddock gave Tyson all he could handle in two hard hitting matches in losing efforts, but could he beat Douglas? Who would win this match over 12 rounds? If you could give me your views on this match and contribute to the poll I'd appreciate it. yours thankfully John
Ruddock would take him. Douglas never shined against anyone like he did that strange february night in tokio. Ruddock was a wrecking ball fighter who just kept banging, he would tag Douglas around round 5.
I would favor Ruddock, I think he was a harder puncher then Tyson with one shot plus we are talking about the Prime Ruddock he was much more dangerous then the Tyson that fought Douglas.. He matched Douglas in size so Buster would not dominate him on the end of his jab like he did Tyson. I always said if Mike would have got a Douglas rematch in the states he would have smoked Buster out early.. I think the fight would be good while it lasted but Ruddock will score a Ko some where around the 6th or 7th round..
Interesting fight... Not to sure about this one, I want to say Ruddock by KTFO. Does the Tyson from the 2 Ruddock fights beat the Tokyo Douglas? Good thread.
Yes, because the Tyson in Ruddock rematch was in terrific shape & took some big shots! Tyson weighed 216lbs for the Ruddock rematch - he was in great shape, quite the contrast to how he was against Douglas! Tyson's mind was not even there when he fought Douglas. Mike even booked a flight home about an hour after the fight, such was his confidence!
Ruddock knocks Douglas out, probably somewhere in the middle rounds - although it could happen earlier if he lands his "smash" on the button. The odds of Douglas having a Tyson-like performance more than once are minimal. His entire career would suggest otherwise. Most likely Douglas gases like he did in the Tucker fight (and others) and gets stopped around round 7-8
it seems like people are being a little unfair, judging douglas by less than perfect fights and using a prime ruddock the ruddock at high best (let's say from dokes to tyson) vs. douglas (tyson obviously) is very tough to call. we're talking about a more mobile ruddock, with a solid jab who actually utilized combinations against a highly motivated, patient, jabbing and combo machine in douglas both have very good chins, edge to ruddock for sure. good but not great stamina on them both. techincally, though defensively flawed i still give the edge to douglas. power is obviously in ruddocks favour though i feel it's overrated in general. against the very best, he could not get the job done if douglas can establish the jab, i feel he dominates the outside but ruddock works his way in, finds distance and scores a knockdown or two. against tyson, douglas got sloppy and that would cost him here. If douglas can make it to the end i see him taking a MD but the last 4 rounds would be brutal
