Douglas from the Tyson fight stops Baer mid rounds. Braddock gets knocked out in 1 or 2 against almost any version of Tyson. Including the night he lost to Buster.
Agreed, Bert. Poor James J, despite having a great chin, gets done over fast, imo. Douglas beats Baer, busting him up and koing him in 8, for me.
I can see Buster having trouble with Baer due to his recreational activities yet I can still see Buster getting the Knock out in the 8th with probably an uppercut but then due to negligence and improper procedure from the referee, the referee doesn't call the fight after a ten count but instead keeps counting all the way to 13 so Baer can get off the canvas. Then in the 10th I can see Baer getting the Knockout making this a huge upset. Just guessing though.
The way that Baer fought in teh Braddock fight, is not going to work against a Douglas of the Tysons fight, who is firing on all cylinders. You need to be on your A game against that version of Douglas, even if you are great. The Baer of the Schmeling or Carnera fight, might well have beaten any version of Douglas. Although Tyson was not on his A game for the Douglas fight, he probably still has a too much left for Braddock.
cool that you posted this as today was baer's birthday! the buster of tyson wins, yes. but if baer has modern training, still a loss for him but would be a slug fest!
Tokyo Douglas is going to be a problem for Baer. Great punishing jab, stiff right hand, nice combos, solid defense, physically strong, all paired with an 83in reach. Baer's got what he needs to win via KO, but he's got to pull that off before he gets beat to hell by that jab. Tokyo Tyson KO's Braddock quickly. Not much of a contest.
If Buster comes in good form I’m fairly confident his skills would see him to victory. If he’s out of shape and unmotivated a ferocious puncher like Baer could capitalize on that
the best-motivated version Baer probably gets Tokyo Buster at some point . He has the chin and the power and with the determination of the Schmelling fight he has better chances than Buster in my view. Braddock had a great chin, but Tyson was not a slow wide punching clowning Baer. Braddock gets knocked out by 4-5 at the latest
