One must call it a day if they are a olympic gold medalist and get outboxed by Eubank Jr. No, but on a serious note. James was a very good fighter and I wish the best for him.
He achieved loads - Gold medalist and world champion with several defences - and did it the hard way, usually away form home. Huge repect for a very talented, unorthodox boxer with great skills and no little courage. He probably should have bowed out before now but at least he has done it now.
Looked like he was getting worse and worse in every fight after Andre Dirrell. Good for him to retire at the right time.
Smart move, and congrats on an excellent career. Not too many can say they won Olympic gold and a world title. I always respected Chunky's matchmaking, too. He out ever fought two guys with a losing record and routinely took tough fights. Enjoy retirement, champ!
I believe that he was a whisker away from beating Jack, and that victory would have seen him on the p4p top ten. Story of his career that though, didn't sacrifice enough to give him that essential last 1% in fights to realise his full potential. Good career though.
