Davis is no where near being a top fighter, fringe contender at best and not a Top 30 Super Middle. Degale just hasn't progressed into being World Class and the moment he takes on a Top 10 guy he'll get beat pretty handily.
Beating down a domestic level fighter many fights ago is a hardly a benchmark of his potential at top level lol He has fought some average opposition since the Groves loss and quite often looked very limited HasDegale really developed as a fighter since the Smith fight ? Has he added to his game ? Has he improved physically ? Has he looked stronger ? There are doubts surrounding all those points. Will wont know till he steps up the level of opposition
I was actually disappointed with his performance, I kinda expected him to stop davis late on before the fight. It's been said the knee is not quite right, not sure if it will ever be 100%? As a fan of degale, i must admit he hasn't shown that much improvement since the groves fight. He doesn't possess so much power and do not tag the other fighter enough to stop them. So any fighter who is euro/fringe world level he isn't going to stop, it would be a points win if he is better than them.
Yes.I remember thinking that Froch was never going to get going, but the Pascal fight then the super 6 really made him.And he seems like the kind of fighter that develops late and doesn't seem to age in the ring.Maybe DeGale will be the same.Surprised he's only 27,and he's definitely on the fringe of a shot.Regarding the conditioning, though,I thought that was McDonnells speciality, plus he should be good at the technical stuff, despite how he comes across.
Well I think out of guys like Groves, Periban, Bika, Abraham, Oothuizen, Stieglitz. If he boxed all of these guys I would strongly expect him to win a few. Davis is a good fighter, drew with Sierrera beat Lopez more convincingly than Pavlick. He is somewhere in the top 50 and James DeGale who is still improving, proved he is a few levels above that.
DeGale came across well in his post interview with iFilm. If thats how he really acts outside of fights then I can warm to him. I hope he gets his shot and gets rid of that fat ***** at the same time. He even reckoned Groves could get the win against Froch.
Yep,comes across as a decent lad.The exception being when he went on Ringside with Groves.Descended to personal insults, but apart from the amateur defeat I reckon there might be something were not going to get to know.George seems to be quite good at winding people up.Agree that statement very unbiased also, and that he should get a crack at a title, maybe next year.
don't want to take anything away from james but that opponent was very poor ,james must get in some tougher fights before he steps up to world level,
I think something is going on behind the scenes in his current setup.Micks obviously got some problems as Eubank Jr has had to leave him due to inactivity and last night Mick didn't seem 'convinced' maybe by Degale, certainly wasn't lauding him with praise. As for Degale, lacks power to trouble the best at the weight i think though that could be his technique
Degale didn't look pleased with Mick after fight. Can see him looking for a new promoter again if he doesn't get a quality money fight by March/April. He did say he wanted to stay busy and I think inactivity has hurt him in the past.
his **** ! im a hardcore boxing fan....but i never watch that boring. his post fight excuses are **** too! richie woodhall & channel 5 now have to kiss his arse & pretend he's good
The Smith win was impressive because Degale had very little experience his pro career wasn't even into double figures.say what you want about Paul Smith but at the time he was a very well established domestic fighter who was on a run of good form not some dissmissable bum like you are making him out to be.Your right that James hasn't been fighting the best of opposition but he's only had 16 fights what do you expect?
Still not sold on DeGale...yeah he looked good for the first 6 rounds but then what? He decided to have a rest for a few rounds...If he wanted to put in a good performance he should have been looking to stop Davis, his punches do seem a bit slappy aswell, he doesnt seem great in throwing combos's. As soon as he is in with someone that will pressure him / make him work for the full fight within top 10 I think that's when we'll find out! doesnt look strong enough to me!
sure blame the trainer.... ....truth be told he's just pure ****! tho he has a nice lovable personality
