I really think this guy can become one of the finest fighters to ever come out of Britain and possibly the best. His style is a nightmare for any opponent. He is an extremely advanced fighter with elite speed/defence/punch selection from either stance. He looks like he takes a good shot (took bombs from sutherland) and has heart too. I think he could beat Arthur Abraham today. I also think he will go on to rule the 168 pound division and eventually become a multiweight champion. He really is the real deal.
I agree he is one of best prospects out there. He has a great deal of ability. It's really all on him. He can be as good as he wants to be IMO. Big SMW as well and don't worry his power will get better as time goes on. He never be one punch type of guy but he will hurt opponents with his accuracy and he will develop power the more he develops technically and understanding of when to sit on shots etc. Plus fact his body is really developing into a professional athlete at the start and up and till recently he was still carrying bit of puppy fat on stomach now he's looking lean more and more he fights.
it goes from one to the other in the place. Best prospect in the world...I don't think so. Also wouldn't class him as a prospect anymore.
compoletly agree 100%! ive been excited about him since his second fight when he threw a pne two combo ducked under a punch and slamed in a uppercut and right hand to ko some russain guy. he has every advanced skill and technique you could imagine. also yes i think he would beat abraham easily already! id like to see him against ward in 2 years!
He's a great prospect but at 24 it's unlikely his power will develop much more. He is what he is - punches quickly in combination, can sting guys at a low level, but won't have much success with that at world-level. He'll need to develop his straight shots and, especially as he moves up to 175, on his ring position.
I would like to see him against Kenny Anderson soon man that would be good .Good ref no premature stoppages man
in the world?! this is the same best prospect in the world that everyone agreed slaps and as well who gets calzaghe-esq on the feet stoppages all the time? hes good, but beating a fat-middleweight who already lost at average level isnt a ticket to greatness And to think all I seem to read on here is how Irish fans big up their fighters more than anyone else!
Still tho never has a British olymic gold medalist ever win a world title .That must put huge pressure on him man but he can look at it he makes history if he does win one .Good luck to him anyway man.
depends on the definition of a prospect. he's very very good though can fight on the inside and outside which is a wonderful asset.
If he had a bit more power I'd tend to agree. That makes a huge, huge difference. It means there are a lot more questions he has to answer for me. It means he's going to be more susceptible to top pressure fighters. Not ordinary ones obviously as he'll counter them to pieces, but very crafty pressure fighters he's going to have to move extremely well against for the full duration if he can't hurt them. I'd also love to see him against somebody with a class jab. A Mikkel Kessler. To see whether he's as smart as he appears, whether he can take away a jab like Andre Ward did. As he's in that type of mould. I think he's a fantastic prospect though. Long time since I've seen a British fighter that lands the type of counter he is able to. It's a special gift to be able to do that. We very rarely produce fighters with genuine counterpunching ability and craftiness.
